Alaskan Bush People

I have been watching this show for a while and it began to smell something not right just like a show featuring some Amish kids that left their commune and incorporated into society. I can't remember the name of the reality show that ran a couple of years back which was no reality.

A bunch of reports and stories on the Browns so here is one

Whats frustrating is that people all over the world do draw conclusions about the US from what they see on TV.

Modeling is an excuse to buy books.

I dig the show...a little bit.

Mildly entertaining.

I have never believed that any "reality" show has ever really been reality. Reality is typically pretty boring and mundane....doesn't really make for "good t.v."

The only REAL reality show - COPS! The perpetrators never knew they were on TV until they got caught.

Honestly, ALL of these alleged "reality shows" are 95% scripted. Even my guilty favorite "Gold Rush"--it's scripted and tailored for certain demographic groups to try to find that elusive viewing audience. You have to remember that very little of what you see happens by chance or is "real".

I knew that most reality shows are planned and not spontaneous but the Browns take it way above scripted. A Pizza Hut a mile away and living on and off in a hotel? I hardly call them Bush People rather BS People. Propeller

And talking about scripted, I recall watching a behind the scenes interview with the pips from Storage Wars and they all said that what you see on TV is only when they score something. Much of the time it's just junk found in the storage units, hit and miss.

I've never watched it, but the previews for a show called "Alone" are hilarious.

There's a guy in a tent petrified over a black bear. Then the camera pans over to a black bear walking around his tent. Oooh, scary. (no doubt they put a brisket in there or something).

"Airplane Repo" seems totally legit!!!!

Stick out tongue

I love how it's all "panicy, go, go, go"...but in their haste, they still manage to get cameras mounted on the wings and/or tail.

Still entertaining...cuz...planes!

I watched Airplane Repo a few times and man, talk about intense! I remember one episode they repossessed a Lear jet somewhere. When he landed, he was surrounded by police with their guns drawn on him. I had to laugh when the repo man provided proof that he was repossessing the said aircraft he was flying.

THERE IS ONE REALITY SHOW that I can assure you is entirely just that.

"Keeping up with the Kardashians".

There is no way anyone could write a script to make people look like such idiots.

Modeling is an excuse to buy books.

Interesting. Well, it is what it is; I watch Alaskan Bush People but I'm not totally invested. Whatever their real situation, it's theirs to deal with.

I watched Gold Rush for most of the first three seasons but lost interest; same with Ice Road Truckers. The only 'reality' show I watch regularly and have been a fan of since it's inception is Deadliest Catch. I just don't see how you could script much if any of that show, but then I may not be as cynical as some. Those guys are out there to make money, period, and there's a lot of it on the line- finding and catching the crab, keeping them alive, equipment breakdowns. Then there's the Bering Sea in winter and weather conditions, and keeping everybody safe while trying to fish with very little rest or sleep. World's most dangerous job? It's certainly among them from what I can see.

"Keeping up with Kartrashians"
Man, that's some real TV stamina to watch that!
How about "Housewives of Orange county"? I'd pull the breaker to my house to avoid watching that when my girlfriend came over. She would never watch "tank battles" with me anyway.

Judging it's overall content, American television is the scourge of this generation. Absolutely ridiculous, from the criminally dishonest, lying televangelists to the seriously demented reality shows, we have become surrounded by fraud and deceit. Wife watches a few shows, people choosing a life long mate among a cast of about a dozen, (you know that would turn out well,) stars dancing, (gag,) and little people behaving in such a chaotic manner. I read books and build models in the room furthest from the tv, now THAT'S reality.

Not sure why these shows got so big.  Duck Dynasty, swamp people, alaksan bush people, etc.  Thats why the rest of the world laughs at us.   I really don't blame them either.  Hey I own a truck and have firearms, but wow....  some of these guys....

Plus, its not just hillbilly shows...  any reality TV is ridiculous.  Its only for money.  Not even a bit real.  Even "House Hunters" is majorly staged.  I read that the couple usually buys the house first, then they film them looking at others, while acting like they still have a decision to make.  My Uncle talked to someone that had a brother on it, and he said once they couldn't find any listings in the neighborhood so they staged the neighbor's house and acted like it was a listing.

Throw out any morals you may have too if you are going to watch current reality.  Cheating, lying, adultery, murder, vengeance....  you would think its normal by the way these shows portray it.

TV in general is just aggravating to me.  News stations swinging for right or left (Just tell me whats going on without throwing someone under the bus or adding a slant to it).   Sportscaster's covering the incorrect or unfair ruling to brown-nose the station (Watch NASCAR for 10 seconds).   F1 wont even let their teammates race each other out of fear of wrecking each other, so you are left with a "Follow-me but don't get too close" race.

Its like watching a sick puppet show and you just wonder who is behind the curtain.

I don't watch many TV myself - only certain shows. The only reality shows I watch is The Amazing Race. Even sitcoms aren't what they used to be like in the old days. Anybody miss watching shows like Happy Days, Laverne & Shirley, Three's Company, Little House ion the Prairie, All in the Family, Love Boat, Fantasy Island, Kojak, Starsky & Hutch, Barretta, etc...?

"All in the Family"---now THAT was a show!!!! I've got hours of them on VCR tape here...and no way to watch them, lol.

I used to love "Kolchak; the Night Stalker" as well. Luckily, they're all on DVD, and I have the box.

Ditto that for a show that makes my fiance' cringe. "Hee Haw"! LOVE IT!!!! Man, Roy Clarke could burn up a fretboard, and I loved the guy who used to "Eff and Aww"--remember that?!? My fiance runs from the room every time I try to imitate it, lol!

This is, without a doubt, one of the most supreme talents out there. Big Smile Make sure you watch the whole thing--he explains how to do it--hilarious!!!!

Hilarious is right Karl- when I was growing up, every Saturday night it was Buck and Roy 'pickin' and a-grinnin'!' And yes they could certainly play......

Norman Lear- genius. One of my all-time favorites is the Andy Griffith Show, the ones with Don Knotts in them. To me Barney Fife is one of the all-time great TV characters.

I used to *** in my pants from laughter watching Carol Burnett with Harvey Korman and Tim Conway, specially that dentist skit! Archie Bunker was the man. I love watching him.

Some of my favorites are The Fugitive, The Invaders, My Favorite Martian, The Addams Family, The Munsters, McHale's Navy, I Dream of Genie, Lost in Space, I Love Lucy and The Time Tunnel. My son once asked me why I watch B&W shows since we have a color TV.
