You all flew F-111's into the future and for that I applaud you.

NOTHING on your map is Aussie for the Nullarbor Plain, which means "no trees" which is a good description of your country.

You are the country that gave us Cate Blanchette, Yvonne Strahovski and Andrew Bogut (that last one is a winner).

I have relatives in Perth who are Croatians and I love them.

Good Day!

Hello! Or should I say G'Day!

Been there, done that. A beautiful country, but first of all, wonderful people there.

So - visit Australia and have a nice day

I'd love to go there myself someday. I hear going to bar telling them you want to get "pissed" is translated as getting drunk. LOL!

Funny anecdote--I have a friend whom I met in Europe while he was on Holiday, and he calls me about once every six months and always says in this extreme Aussie accent "G'day Kaahhl! Dow ya know whoo it is, mayte?!" I always laugh because NO ONE else that I know has such an identifiable accent!

My wife has a number of cousins who all live in Perth. They are all ethnic Croats and speak Italian with an Aussie accent. And English and Croatian. We must be one of the only first world nations who only speak one language.

Anyways the nicest folks you can imagine. Very generous and funny.

G'day guys, right back at you with regard to having a great country. I have visited the US four times now and absolutely love it there. I have seen 26 states over there so far and have relatives in Abilene, Texas, and a buddy in San Angelo, Texas. I have never had any trouble with anyone I've met over there, and you have some incredibly beautiful scenery. I love your cars and the car culture that goes along with it too, as I am a huge Motorsports fan and you guys have some of the best racing in the world in a multitude of genres on 2 and 4 wheels. I took my son there for 3 and a half weeks for his 12th birthday and it will always be the memory of a lifetime for the both of us. And just for future reference, we NEVER say "let's put a shrimp on the barby"! Cheers.

Cheers tankerbuilder,

Glad you liked your stay in OZ. we are a pretty happy go lucky bunch for the most part and we don't take ourselves too seriously. I have seen way more of the States than I have seen of my own country. I guess you take your own backyard for granted. I have driven about 20 000 miles over there but I hate driving more than 50 miles over here! And everyone I met in the US was so friendly to me. I know there would be exceptions (same as everywhere), but I didn't meet them. And I love all the different accents you guys have. You only have to drive a couple of hours and you will find a different accent. Our two countries are roughly the same size area wise but over here we all talk pretty much the same. Anyway mate, send me an email if you want to chat some more. The address should be on my bio . Cheers mate.

New York City isn't all that bad. my family and I have taken a bus trip there a few times and it's a blast to visit. Brooklyn Zoo, Radio City to see The Rockettes during Christmas, Rockafeller Center, Times Square, oh my.... Fun fun fun.

Upstate NY is really nice and so are the people there. I had a girlfriend that went to school in Delhi, NY. Beautiful landscape in that area and up towards Oneonta, as well as out west of there towards Ithaca, etc. Texas is better though Yes Out west of Austin, etc. Good BBQ, mate!

Yeah Tom, from what I've seen on TV there is some beautiful scenery up that way, and I do like me some Texas BBQ y'all. There are so many incredibly beautiful places, scenery wise, over there that I can't decide which ones I like best. Take it easy mate.

I think the Tony Abbot thing is bringing in politics to this thread, which is not allowed in the forums.  In Abbots defence, I don't think there would be a world leader that hasn't put his or her foot in their mouth more than once.  In Roosevelts day there wasn't a video camera on you every time you opened your mouth.  Remember, a lot of people thought Reagan was an idiot, while a lot of other people warmly remember those years.

No offence Wirraway, but that was 10 posts ago. After that a bunch of us steered it away from that subject and have been talking about the virtues of our respective countries. You my friend, are the one who has brought it back up! Does the old pot/kettle thing ring any bells?
