RIP Jerry Campbell
Posted by Mopar Madness on Wednesday, July 8, 2015 9:19 AM
An old friend Jerry Campbell, creator of Sqadron Shops and Squadrin Signal Publications, passed away last Friday leaving behind a legacy of bringing the modeling industry into our home by way of books and models. I was first introduced to Jerry and his wife Judy in the late 70's by my mother who was the sales manager for Sqadron Signal Publications in the late 70's through the early 80's. I would stare at his collection of books in awe and amazement while marveling at the amazing Don Greer artwork. He even gave me a few of his own "in action" books from time to time, probably in an effort to get my 7-yr old distracting self out of his office! He and his wife Judy were wonderful folks indeed with hearts of gold. RIP Jerry, thank you for bringing the hobby to our doorstep and book shelves. You will be sorely missed.

Thanks for posting the information. I didn't know, or give much thought to who or what created Squadron, but it's simply a cornerstone of the hobby, no question about it.

I'm sorry for the loss of your friend.

Modeling is an excuse to buy books.

I never knew the man. But I certainly know the results of his work. He will live on is his legacy thru his creations that have enlarged and enriched this great hobby. I am sorry for your personal loss of his passing MM.

This is sad indeed. Without his publications, I would have no idea that a P-38F/G/H are cosmetically identical, the Spit Mk. IX actually was in service before the Mk. VIII, and countless other important facts. He will be missed.

That's a bummer. A real loss for the hobby to be sure.

Aw man. Sadness. I love Squadron's products. Some of my go-to tools are Squadron. He'll be missed for sure, but his work lives on
