R.I.P. Shep Paine

Hey guys,

Sad news to report from a Shep Paine Tribute Facebook page that I liked:

"Shep Paine. 10:33am Aug 2
Sad news. He belongs to the ages now.
"

This man's contributions and influence in the modeling world cannot possibly be over-estimated. He is my original mentor, and the dog-eared, fingerprint-stained pages of his books which I still own are a testament to his personal influence on me.

I salute the man, the modeler, the legend. Shep Paine died today. CryingBroken Heart

Doog, sorry to hijack your thread but Abraham Lincoln is the one true person that "belongs to the ages now".

Not my words, Sir. The words are from his family member. I would tend to agree with him.

Aside from the model makers at ILM in the 1970s, Shep was THE guy that EVERYBODY looked up to in this hobby.

I remember seeing little flyers in old Monogram kits you mentioned in the other thread. In fact, he inspired me to try my hand at dupicating the diorama on the kit box. It wasn't the best but it was good enough for me as a 10 year old then. I sure wished I still had that diorama.
