Looks like boredom has set into the offices of Flickr yet again, and they have changed their format for linking images.

Has anyone figured out how to link your photos to the forums here and elsewhere?  I've looked at the  Fickr forum briefly on this topic, and hopeful I'm wrong, but it seems they have eliminated the ability to directly link images?

regards,

Jack

All I do is hit the 'Share' button on my Flickr page, copy the code and paste it right in the body of my post here on FSM. I don't recall too much difficulty on Flickr's end. If I have problems posting pics, usually it's on this end of it. I hadn't noticed Flickr had upgraded, though.

Thanks for responding, Dirk.

I'm certain I tried your method, but it was on another forum, and only the cut n' paste text would show and no actual photo.  It is strange though as this change happened some six weeks ago (judging by complaints on Flickr forum), but only now was it being a problem for me.  I have since ironed it out.

It seems Flickr wants to advertise their brand name with any photos, and want members to refrain from use direct links to just photos from their account.  I have found a fix as it seems they left a back door open to work around this.

After isolating a direct link to one of my photos and opening in another window, inspection of the image info revealed that the image was blocked.  So all I did was uncheck the box stating this (see the red circle in the image below), and that has fixed the problem:

Anyhow, this is what the same image looks like when using their share button:

as well as embed:

<a data-flickr-embed="true" data-header="false" data-footer="false" data-context="false"  href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/99754592@N04/" title="flickr"><img src="https://farm6.staticflickr.com/5762/20681592386_7f38f7cd62_o.jpg" width="664" height="708" alt="flickr"></a><script async src="//embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js" charset="utf-8"></script>

... and their BBCode

Jack, there has been 'weirdness' happening with Flickr for a while.  I haven't been able to view images on Flickr that were found using Google Image search, all I get is the 'Panda' "I'm sorry, we are having problems" poppinig up... something that only happens at home not at work.  For a while, I thought it had been hacked by Chinese agents, but apparently Flickr selected the little Chinese girl holding a panda's leash as the image that appears for their OOPS! error.  As I said, weird.
