Oh dear! The initial contract is for 17,000 vehicles plus sustainment, for $ 6,700,000,000.

By my math, thats $ 400,000 per vehicle.

While I really value the lives of our service personnel, this kind of thing just makes me want to Bang Head.

Interesting though, and I guess the old Humvee is a "legacy" item now. Makes me feel old.

I think a lot of people got used to the Humvee so I hope this its an upgrade for them and more importantly better protection and firepower.

GM, I'm sure a good portion of that initial cost is "sustainment". Spare parts and all that good stuff. I wonder if this is gonna have a while family like the HMMWV does: armament carriers, troop carriers, prime movers, ambulances, shelter carriers, etc.? Or is this gonna be a one size fit as all affair like the jeep family with no serious differences? It does look pretty rugged.

Tsk, Tsk, Tsk..........all this talk about "sustainment" cost of the actual vehicle.

This is a model building forum.

No one wonders if the retail price of the first 1/35 scale model of that vehicle will start at $100.00 or $200.00 per kit...........? Whistling

I think so, but there is a company called Oshkosh that currently makes the HEMTT and PLS trucks for the DoD, in fueler, cargo and wrecker versions.

They also make that ubiquitous construction equipment called a JLG, scissor lift.
