Who's going to see it and what do you expect?
Me? I'm certainly not running out to buy tickets. It may have to wait for DVD, as my expectations are pretty low. Sort of up there with "Star Trek: Generations".
Gary
I'll probably go in a week or two.

My wife and I's Christmas tradition is to go to the movies....will see it then.
I don't set expectations....I'll see what I see!
Usually, if the reviewers don't like it, its a good movie and if they like it, it's not good. I'll probably see it in a year or so. Haven't seen the last 1 or 2 yet. Guess I better watch them first.

I keep hitting "escape", but I'm still here.
Meh. I may see it eventually.
I'm more excited to see the roadshow version of Hateful Eight which is actually playing at a theater a mile from my house.
Will see it but will wait a couple weeks. And will get the DVD once it's out later to add to my collection. LOL!
Pssst... Luke's gone over to the Dark Side.....
I'll probably wait for the DVD. I am not going to stand in line with the loonies to see this, or any movie. The last 3 episodes were so poor, I don't expect much from this one. It will be hard to exceed the first three movies of years ago.
Gimme a pigfoot, and a bottle of beer...
Three of us from work are going a week Tuesday (the 22nd). We bought the tickets weeks ago. I have high expectations, and hoping they will not be dashed.

Big bloated Disney flick, I suspect.
Modeling is an excuse to buy books.
I hope the movie is good but I'm not expecting much. I was very happy to see Disney take over the series, being a well-oiled entertainment machine I figured if anyone could save the movies from Lucas's blundering they could. Then they go hire Jar Jar Abrams as the director- who frankly makes Lucas look like John Ford in comparison. I've seen two movies by Abrams, the first Trek reboot was terrible and second a friend talked me into seeing with him. If it wasn't for him I'd have walked out on it, I've seen plenty of bad films but this is on the list of the five worst movies I've ever seen. I expect this movie will make a pile of money but be absolutly horrible.
Seems Disney has copied the Marvel movies with an entire series of films lined up, I think this will get them off the wrong foot to start, hopefully they can recover in time. And beyond that with all the hype and build-up even if this movie is perfect it still probably won't be able to live up to what everyone is expecting.

I'll be taking the family as soon as the hype dies down. Maybe the week between Christmas and New Years.
And as for expectations, I have none. I just let them tell their story, and if I don't like it, I won't buy the DVD.

Back in 1977 things were pretty rotten but SW was exciting, light-hearted and fun. Empire was darker but still a roller-coaster ride, the pre-sequels just seemed, well dull to me. I hope they recapture the fun of the original films.
You made some good points there Steve, now it seems everything has excellent FX, it's not a big drawing factor anymore I think. Actually the best 'Star Wars' movie I've seen in years was called 'Guardians of the Galaxy'. I'm more interested in the sequel to it than this SW film.
Bruce, very wise idea there. When I do see it I'm going to try to enjoy it on it's own merits without the baggage.

So many comments from those thinking they're not going to be impressed with Star Wars. Ya'll must be Star Trek fans....... LOL!
The advertising agency force can have a strong influence on the weak-minded...
Though I enjoyed the first three, I have no interest in running out to watch this one. Will wait and catch it when it comes to Netflix on instant view.

I don't think it's so much "I'm going to be unimpressed by the new Star Wars movie" as it is "I am unimpressed with current Hollywood directors and screenwriters".
I'm not terribly impressed by the current Star Trek films either (not that I was impressed by some of the earlier ones).
Gee , I didn't know it ever went to sleep .Hmmmm. T.B.
I'll be going to a Friday afternoon screening. We bought tickets online, complete with reserved seating, so minimal fuss with crowds, lines, etc. My expectations? I am not impressed by Mr Abrams work at all so I do not have high expectations. But I am hoping to be pleasantly surprised and seeing if he can pull this off in the range of the original trilogy. But I am not holding my breath. It's been awhile since a movie that I was excited about was anywhere near expectations.

I still haven't forgiven the franchise for those %!^&#&! smarmy, talking teddy bears who lived in the trees and saved the Universe. They were just oh-so-ready to be packaged and shipped to toy stores to sit under the tree of every Star Wars geek's toddlers. The Age of Shameless Movie Product Marketing arrived with those darned things, and I haven't seen another episode past that disaster and don't plan to.

Lol GAF, I think Karl is talking about the Ewoks (let's corner the Teddy Bear market!) in Return of the Jedi.
These days it makes me think of some high tech way to cook Asian food- an E-Wok. Damn, now I'm hungry for Chinese food...

Oh gosh I'd forgotten about that- I thought you meant the 'Star Wars Christmas Special' where Han had to get Chewie back for 'Life Day' with his wife Malla, son Lumpy, and Grandpa Mangy (or something like that).
Spruce: Dunno, but I bet even Ewok would be good if fried...
