The Art of the Brick
Posted by wolfhammer1 on Sunday, March 20, 2016 9:10 PM

The family and I decided to use my son's Spring Break to make a quick road trip to Cincinnati, OH to see a display called "The Art of the Brick"  There is an artist who creates or recreates art out of Legos.  First, it is amazing what he can create.  Second, some of his recreations of classic art, such as Whistler's Mother, Starry, Starry Night, and The Scream are astounding.  If this display comes through your town, by all means see it.  We had a blast and spent over 2 hours wondering through.

Hello , Wolfhammer and Stikpusher !

This is from a LEGO person . I have been identified  ( tongue in  cheek ) as the oldest Adult Fan OFf LEGO in Texas ! There are a bunch of us .The BRICK is a good ground for creativity .

We have in our regular displays , Scale Model ( not just toys ) Trains from Texas Brick Rail-Road and many recognizeable buildings we see every day from Members of San Antonio's Tex-LUG ( LEGO Users Group ) Austin , Corpus Christi , Houston are quite often seen doing something .

That said , we have an Aftermarket store in San Antonio  that is run by a friend , Ron Luvisi ( gees , I hope I spelled his name right ) Ron is a jewel and very helpful to those who like to go " Beyond the Brick ". He has one of those art pieces hanging on his wall in the store .

Now for the darkside .When I need a box for creating a mold or a stand for working on a ship or plane I use LEGO or the " False LEGO " such as Brik-Tek or Mega - Bloks . It is amazing the useful things you can make with them too .There was a T.V. show a short time back that featured a fellow making a full sized house using LEGO .That , and the uses I've seen on various D.I.Y. shows speaks to this product's versatility .

When you are Bogged down with Modelers Block , Build something out of LEGO .You're modelers block will dramatically dissappear ! Plus LEGO can be used in modeling in other ways too  .It is A.B.S. and there are glues that will work on it .

We LEGO purists wouldn't think of glueing a creation together . Artists and others do .You cannot have an outside display without that . It would never weather the first storm ! Enjoy your visits to displays and places like LEGOLAND .They can fire up your imagination - How about a REAL car built from LEGO ? I've seen it on the Telly too !

Happy Bricking ! Tanker - Builder
