Yep PJ. One thing has hit me. I was having a hard time earning money for the last couple years. Suddenly I've got lots of work. But I let myself slip and I get tired a lot. I'm really working at getting back into shape by 60 (this year) and want to be better about that.

Modeling is an excuse to buy books.

I believe PlasticJunkie statement it dead on. Perfectly Spoken PJ. I lost my dad in his prime, he was in good shape, active, ate healthy 90% of the time and didn't smoke or drink. As PJ stated, When your time is up...it's up.

What happens is when we are young we think we are immortal and nothing can touch us. Once one gets old one reflects on the past and wonder how in the heck some of us made it this far.

We are here on borrowed time. Some stay longer and others check out sooner than expected.

The only thing one can do is take one day at a time and hope for the best, enjoy life the best you can while being able to.

I woke up 5 1/2 years ago in ICU wired and plumbed like the Queen Mary at dockside, with extra electronics planted in my chest.  Was told I had 3 heart atacks and 3 stents installed.  So I figure I'm not on the back nine anymore, I'm in sudden death mode of game, and the last of the line on that branch of the family tree.  Wife figured she would out last me, and that was not to be in the cards-dealer had the last say there.

It do give a different perspective on things that matter and those that don't.

Let's see, Zombie thread check:done;dictionary:check;Harbrace College Grammatical Handbook:check;George Carlin's list of 7 words you can't say on TV:check;hard copy cleared by censors:check. OK I guess I'm ready to post. While I'm waiting for a clear coat to dry I thought I'd relate an experience I had the other morning. It might be of passing interest to my contemporaries and food for thought for some of you younger gentlemen and or ladies. I woke up and hit the head to make a deposit and in passing the vanity I caught a glimpse of an image that caused me to do a double take.It was my grandfather, maternally. No doppelganger,as he has long passed, but it was me.When the ---- did this happen?I canvassed my remaing siblings and the consensus was it's been a while but wasn't deemed newsworthy enough to mention. Now I've nothing against my grandfather,I rather liked him,he grew up hardscrabble in "Little Dublin": N. Cambridge,Mass. The best man at his wedding was Thomas P. O'Neill who went on to become Speaker of the House of Representatives,my grandfather went on to become an unrepentant alcoholic,in the vernacular of the time not today's PC,namby pamby definition.

Through the prism of childhood I don't recall that generation being as active as I deem myself. They all seemed so sedate and settled in their lives, at this,my stage in my life. I'm waiting for the weather to break to get the bike on the road, just last Fall I was out laying ambushes with my 10 year old nephew and his gang of Nerf gunners, there's camping and fishing, ice skating, hell we're heading out to Sturgis in August and threw out one guy because he wanted to trailer the bikes out. Any way,it got me to thinking about the near(er) future; no dribble cup or adult diapers for me. I hope to retain enough cognitive capacity to ensure a transition on my terms. One way to accomplish that is to remain active. Ok,that's it. I'm off to learn how to play the guitar.
