We need a good 1:72 Ford Tri-motor.  The Revell kit is 1:77- the difference in scale is enough one cannot use a 1:72 resin engine.  The old Airfix 1:72 Tri-motor is extremely rare out of production, and was a crappy kit anyways.  I know of no other kit of this iconic bird.

I certainly agre wth Don. For that matter, why not a Ford Trimotor in 1/48? If they can do it for the DC-3....

When it comes to famous, influential aircraft that have been overlooked by the kit industry, though, my number one nominee is the Curtiss Jenny. Unless you want to commit your bank account, several months of your life, and a huge display case to the beautiful Model Airways 1/16 wood and metal kit, the only thing out there is the 1950s-vintage Lindberg/Round 2 version in 1/48 (no longer on the Round 2 website).

Think of a Wingnut Wings 1/32 Jenny. Imagine the potential color schemes - from primary trainers to float planes to armed gunnery trainers to barnstormers. Or a 1/48 Jenny of the quality of the Reveal Stearmans. Or a 1/72 Jenny of the quality of the Airfix Tiger Moth.

TB, I don't quite understand your post. Trumpeter makes a 1/200 Missouri in 1945 configuration. I'll never buy it (too expensive, too big, and way too much repetition for me), but it's out there.

I do have a Tamiya 1/700 kit in my stash. Beautiful kit, and, even if you throw in a Gold Medal photo-etched set, not too expensive. Just eye-strain-inducing.

You can find it at Squadron, Freetime Hobbies, and probably quite a few other internet dealers. I don't think the 1/200 one will ever meet my definition of affordability, though. I'm willing to consider spending $200 or so for a wood kit that will keep me occupied for several years. But not for a plastic kit.

First of all, yes to the Ford or any other scale model of an Airliner from that era. I've got the old Frog Southern Cross, quite a challenge when I built her. I thought the Airfix Ford was fairly buildable, but a 1/4" scale one would be swell. Or a Curtiss Condor. Or a B40, in the larger scales.

I'd like an additional category for things that don't fit the narrow topics offered. Call it other or misc. of whatever. For instance, I'd love to see some heavy construction equipment. Maybe it fits in the auto section but I don't think so. How about trains and any number of other things we see that simply don't fit the restrictions offered?

The trouble I had with the Airfix one was that the struts that hold the nacelle were the wrong length- the nacelle would end up at a significant angle to aircraft axis.  Tried scratching struts but it was just too much work :-(

Also like to see a decent DC-3 which is not a converted C-47 in 1:72.

I went more to the automotive side with the various '63-'91 Jeep Wagoneers and Cherokees, along with a decent kit of the downsized Cherokees that ran fron '84 to '01.

Add in a really nice accurate RF4C in 1/32 (not a repop of the Revell)

Great call on the Cherokees, Goldhammer! I want one of those bad, too. I drive a '98 Cherokee so my reasons are sentimental, but a couple non-Wrangler or CJ Jeep kits would be very cool.

I also second the construction equipment. I would definitely be down for some of that.

I've been thinking it over for a few days, and it looks like the deadline is a ways out, so I'm taking my time to figure out what I'd submit on that form. I'd really like to see a new tool B-58 Hustler in 1/48. Also would love to see some modern astronaut and some sci-fi figures in various scales. I'm still refining my list before I turn it in, though.   ;)

I have an '81 2 door wide track (the one with the steel factory flares) "adult Cherokee" and an '88 4 door "child Cherokee" that was going to be my trail rig but took over from the '81 as my daily driver/trail rig.

I put down a 1/350 USGC 378 HEC. I would love to put one of those in an ocean scene.

On the vehicle side, a dedicated model of the Air Force XM-706 Commando Car with an accurate interior and a model of the M715 weapons truck from the late 60s to early 70s, would be great.  Also a 1971 C.J. 5 jeep with the option for a hard top.  For civilians, a 1971-72 Honda Coupe set up for the American market.

If you want ot go a bit unusual in ships, what about a Great Lakes aircraft carrier?  Those paddle wheels would make it really sand out.

In aircraft a good detailed model of the Kaman H-43 Pedro (Huskie) and the airtruck:

A Porsche 356 or a BMW 2002.

What I can't understand is, why the heck are Figures never covered in the survey?  It's inexplicable that the genre is left out, especially when FSM is now running a Figures column.

I would love to see a 1/48 or 1/32 Banshee. I have the old MPC 1/72 one and that is about it as no one else has one. I keep hearing about a 1/48 one by someone but nothing yet. 

I wanted to list a 1/48 scale Banshee as well but I think the survey stated (and I could be very wrong about this) that we had to list something that has NEVER been kitted before.  I know Hawk/Testors released a Banshee way back when.  In spite of how much I wanted to list it in the survey, I left it off.

I ended up listing/begging/pleading for an injection molded 1/48 scale XB-42 Mixmaster.  I understand that early X-planes probably aren't money-makers like the Mustangs and Nazi planes but early X-planes are woefully under-represented none-the-less.  In the 1/32 category, I listed an F-89 Scorpion (any variant).  A man can dream, can't he?

I'm happy that one of my long-time suggestions for these polls was met last year, when Aoshima brought out an injection-molded kit of the Wasp (CV-7) in 1/700.  I thought I'd never see one.  And they issued two versions of the kit, too.  One depicts her on one of her runs to reinforce Malta with a squadron of Spitfires, and the other is supposed to show her at the time of her demise, and included a model of her nemesis, the I-19.

How about a bell xp-77 in 1/32

How about a Korean War vintage A-1 Skyraider in 1/48 scale?  A new tool Banshee in 1/48.  How about a 1/48 SU24?  Vietnam vintage AH-1, 1/48.  1/48 AH-56 Cheyenne.  an accurate A-4M in 1/48.  1/48 AC-47.  New UH-1B/C.  New 1/48 OV-10A/D.

Thanks for posting that as I could not remember where I saw it. That info on their site has been idle for at least a couple of years so hopefully something will eventually be available.

After watching those take off every so often during the war and being told by the local A.F. Police that I couldn't take pictures of them because they were classified, I have been hoping the get a kit ever since.

If I had had the money I would have gotten a wooden one made in the in the Philippines back then.

who knowa, maybe one will be made since it was used in the road warrior movie, but I'd want mine to look clean.
