Hmmm.
Here's one that may make some curl their toes in frustration .How far will you go to establish reality in your models ?
This means Super - Detailing of course . here's an example , Dan Jaynes ( R.I.P.) was a commensurate modeler . Detail jumped out at you .And he loved doing it .Now , The globety thingy in the right fuselage , fender well , turret , whatever.
Do you put it there knowing that only you will see it ? or having closed up the model , be the only person who actually saw that thing ? I saw a model years ago , Built by a shop in France .
It was an engineering model of a Falcon 20 Biz-Jet, framing and control Lines wires and all those things picked out and labeled . Do you go that far ? Why ?
I personally build and give away " Cut- Aways " of ships of all types , because I enjoy seeing the faces of folks when they realize that they are seeing steel grating , in miniature , between the scale diesel engies in the engine room , for instance . And the shock -resistant light globes on the overheads . And real pistons and rods in old steam plants that actually move .
That applies to vehicles too . How many have you seen , Say a Korean era Jeep with the stuffing coming out of the seams in the seats .Not a lot , But very visible wear . now there's reality in miniature .Don't like C-Rats ? then don't make a face like the one on a figure I saw at a show . Awesome !
I applaud anyone who goes this far . And those who don't even get close .Why ? Well , it's called passion . Is yours there for Reality in Scale ? T.B. P.S. We are talking about passion here , Not obsession .
