Read an article on him a few years ago.  Amazing that he was even picked up by the Japanese at Midway after he ditched.

Kaname Harada, self recognized as the last Zero pilot, died last week at 99.

He flew CAP at Pearl Harbor from Soryu, was on her in the Indian Ocean Raid, and at Midway where he landed on Hiryu after his ship was sunk. Again he was in the air when Hiryu was sunk and had to ditch.

Aboard Hiyo he was shot up over Guadalcanal in October 1942, ending his flying career.

He might have been shot down by Joe Foss, whom he later met.

He returned to pearl harbor in 1991 for the 50th.
