Heading to Wright Patterson....
Posted by tempestjohnny on Sunday, July 31, 2016 7:32 AM

My son and I with a friend of mine and his son are driving out to Ohio tomorrow morning for a week of being complete plane geeks. It's going to be about a 12-13 hour drive so the plan is to get to hotel tomorrow evening and then hit the museum first thing Tuesday morning. Wednesday morning. Thursday morning. Driving home Friday. I may need a bigger card in my camera.Wink

Wow, I wish I was with you guys! I got my lifetime trip in two years ago. Best air museum ever. Give us a report later and stay Calm!

Don't know which direction you will be heading going home, but if near Detroit, if you haven't already visited Henry Ford Museum in Dearborn, see that.  It has a nice collection of planes (as well as trains, cars, and machinery).

The East Broad Top is in I think Altoona.

Correction: Rockhill.

Altoona has a great shops museum for the PRR.

Scranton has Steamtown.

Modeling is an excuse to buy books.

Really tough one. I think the one of a kinds were very cool. The B-70 was amazing and huge. Seeing the Ju88 in the WWII section was an epiphany. So many. Spent a total of 22 hours looking around and taking it all in. Also was able to walk through all the Air Force Ones

Well, we don't have to pick a favorite because we had a great opportunity to see them all! The one of a kind things were like suprises hidden around. I think most of us older guys built the Stilletto X-3 model as a kid and there it was! XB-70 is a top contender for sure. One scary thing was the bus of 10 nuclear warheads that went on top of the missle and being a photographer I did like the huge film spy satellites. What a place, I'm glad you guys went. I'm open for more favorites!
