Lost My Father-in-Law This Week
Posted by Tojo72 on Friday, February 3, 2017 7:52 AM

Joe was 2 months away from his 94th birthday. He lived a long, productive life.He was a quiet humble guy of few words.A tough little wiry Italian guy,a real hard worker. He retired back in 1990 but continued to to a night clean-up job untill he was about 87yrs old just to get out of his house. He lost his wife in 96 and his son in 97 so my wife was his only surviving relative, she was devoted to him and they did a lot the past 20 years together. He will be missed.

He was a WWII veteran,no combat but he was in the Army Air Corp,he was in the 64th Fighter Wing as a supply clerk, served in Italy mostly. He didn't say much about it,but we found a lot of interesting documents including his discharge papers, paybook, and many interesting photos.

Sorry to hear that. Sounds like a stand-up guy from the "best generation". Glad your wife got to spend the time with him in his golden years. My condolences.

My condolences Tojo. The guys from that era must know something that we don't as they are living long lives. The ex P-47 pilot that comes to our club meetings is 94 or 95 now and still going strong. They were physically and mentally strong to go through all they had to live through.

I'm sorry for your loss of a good friend and please comfort your wife as she lost a good father.

I was very close to mine, it's a special bond. Among other things if you get their friendship you know you are trusted with a special gift, the daughter.

Modeling is an excuse to buy books.

Sorry friend. He sounded like a stand-up guy. A shame he didn't share any stories with you.

Tojo,

My condolences to you and your wife during this sad time. I enjoyed the story behind this man, and believe he was truely an "old school" gentleman. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your wife.

May I add my condolences also.  Sounds like you hit the jackpot with a wonderful father-in-law.  May the angels greet him and carry him to his eternal reward, and may his family know comfort and peace.
