Download your Photobucket Albums
Posted by GMorrison on Sunday, July 2, 2017 10:59 AM

I was able to download my entire album in one easy step.

On the right side of the page, under "Actions", choose "Download Albums".

There's a little bit of a bot filter to slog through, but you get an email with a button that gives you one chance to download your files. It took about four minutes, and now is on my drive.

Look forward to picking a different host site.

I'm just gonna leave my old files on PB for now. Free cloud storage.

Did the exact same thing last night. I can still post pictures  but the fact is , photobucket is basicly making a price increese "RECTROACTIVE"

I'm not up to date on corperate law but I dont think thats legal.

I also dont care for the fine print in their terms of use. Basicly they now "OWN" your pictures and can do with them as they please. that includes selling them to whomever they want (even you !)

How does it feel to have a thief steel your stuff and then sell it back to you?

I'm so mad about this that I'm trying not to run my mouth enough to get banned here.

I think it's perfectly legal, if not ethical.  As GM states above,it is possible to download your albums using the "Download Album" method.  You have to fight through the ads and pop-ups to do it, but it is possible.  And with a few million people trying to do it at the same time, it's going to be a hassle.

BTW, folks.  Buying a couple of 32 or 64gig thumb drives for storing your photos is probably cheaper than storing them online.  And for smart-phone users, did you know you can transfer data off your phone using the USB cable or Bluetooth to access another device?  Yep, I've transferred my phone pics off my LG using the very cable you use to charge it.  Very convenient!

As for the Photobucket, they're counting on there being enough people with important photos stored on site who will pay the money.  I wouldn't count on PB being around much longer after they've milked that cash cow.  I think they will cut their losses and run.  So, buyer beware!

My IT guy tells me that my data should be in four places.

computer, external hard drive, thumb drive and cloud.

and yes, the iCloud is a waste of money. Easy enough to back up phone via cable to pc.

Going to be curious to see what new service you recommend For web host.

I down loaded what I wanted to save, to a flash drive, and deleted my PB account.  Nuts to them!

Well, I downloaded all my albums and deleted my account. Funny, many of the pictures were no good once downloaded. Now for the search for a new web hosting site. I may get ambitious and create my own server...

Thanks for the info, Guys!  I was finally able to log in and I closed my account....before I read your thread on downloading our libraries.  Well, no problem. I was still able to log into my account (I think it takes about 48 hrs for them to delete it) and download my libraries.

Then I deleted the libraries that I built. But I couldn't just delete my bucket library - apparently you have to delete those images individually. So I left them. They can have them.

I'm done with Photobucket.

BTW:  The site is even slower than usual, probably because everyone is trying to download their images. You have to keep trying, even re-log in.

Ditto!  I still have all the original phots on my hard drive.  I used PB to be able to post my photos here and on other model related websites.  I deleted everything, closed my account and they still claim I have used 53% of my allotted space.  When I closed the account on Thursday, I got a message saying it may take a day or two to close the account.  I just checked and it's still active.  Wankers!

I deleted all my photos/images in PB library after I zipped the whole album onto my HD before deleting my account. No way I was going to let PB keep my photos/images.

It would appear that if you have your bucket broken down into albums, you have to download a zip of each one... one down, many to go... lol!

I logged in yesterday to my account and "Attempted" to download my albums. I received my email from PB saying that the download was available for 12 hours. I immediately clicked the "download album" button and was transferred to the PB page, I received a message stating that the album was no longer available for download.  What a crock!!!

Did you download the album first? Usually it says that after you've done it. I DL mine to my desktop then went back and deleted each one in my PB library before deleting the account.

DO NOT LEAVE ANY PHOTOS ON PHOTOBUCKET !!!!!

According to their terms of use your pictures now belong to them. They can sell them, or turn them into posters, or make them into shirts, they can even sell them back to you!

The second you loaded their site with your pictures they became "property of photo bucket"

Dont give them the satisfaction of using your pictures to make money!

95% of my photos on PB are my model stuff... nothing much that would make them any money....

the rest is photos downloaded online, or my private albums of family stuff...

I plan to do neither, Timmy. They will, no doubt, but it's not worth the time and effort to me. I've grabbed everything already. Like a house move, a good time to sort, organize and THROW OUT a lot of stuff.

Because I'm a cut-up like Carlos, a lot of images I grabbed as art to go with a joke. Kind of useless without the joke.

Exactly... download your stuff, save it someplace secure like an external hard drive, and find a new host site to post your image from. But leave your stuff on their site just in case by some act of providence that they reverse this moronic action, or simply to tie up space on their server...

I'm not trying to tell anybody they have do do anything. Lord knows I cant even get the dog to sit or roll over.... I just want everyone to understand that Photobucket now own's the rights to your photos .

That means they can sue you if you post a picture anywhere if it's already on their site.

I doubt they would take the time or expense to actually do that, but it is a possabillity.

Timmy,

Why do you think they own the rights.? I don't see that anywhere in their terms. But I'm not a lawyer.

What I understand is that they do have the right to delete them from their site.

They've screwed this up. And it's really too bad, because all over the internet now I see their grey boxes.

I'm no lawyer either, but this seems to me to be a contract that sells our rights to PB the moment we agreed to their terms of use.

It is a reminder that it's very hard to claim sole rights to something once it's put up on the internet.

But that's different from taking those rights away from the post originator.

But yes, expect anything we post to get used in ways that make value for others.

And that's why I won't post anything that I don't want the whole world to see! I'm glad that I saw this today - I've been wanting to come back to the forum now that I have the modeling bug biting me again. However, I also would like to figure out how to host pictures another way rather than going through third party companies that I'm forced to trust with my photos then doing this! I'm going to log in to my account to see what's happening. I don't need to save anything from Photobucket I have all this saved on my computers, discs, and my One Drive in my email account. This way I can always access them when I need to. I just don't want all the things that I made such as tag lines, videos, Avatars, etc, being sold to the highest bidder. I'll just delete all my photos since none of them are showing up anyway. This is horrible that this has happened - I've spent dozens, maybe even HUNDREDS of hours just posting, and editing these photos to all the different modeling forums that I'm a member of! Well, I guess that are of our efforts are in vain since no one can see anything we've posted - it's all just words now. (sad face)

I haven't been on eBay for a little while, but I was on Amazon over the weekend ordering replacement parts for an older gas grill.

Lots of gray boxes. I guess if I had an online store that made my living, I really would feel blackmailed.

I have a paid account, the Plus50.  I've wondered why I have yet to get the email announcing the change in plans.  I think I just got my answer.  I was at PB and saw a banner on the top of the page, to read about the changes:

http://blog.photobucket.com/please-review-latest-changes-photobucket/

People who have accounts other than the Plus500 account, whose accounts are in good standing as of June 17, will continue to have 3rd part hosting until the end of 2018, as long as we have paid our subscriptions.  So, I have some time, which is what I figured.
