Started the process for the big move.
Posted by tempestjohnny on Wednesday, April 18, 2018 5:52 AM

My wife and kids and mother in law are all moving to Florida sometime this year.  I have put a transfer request at work and am waiting for the approval.  My wife will find a job when we get down there.  Mother in law's house is on market and mine will be soon.  In the meantime we have started packing the non-essentials.  And I decided to pack the builds and stash but left a few boxes untaped to be able to get to the stash if I get the shakes.  So here is the area now.....

Good luck on the transfer and move.  I feel for you, going to be moving in the next couple of months, after 32 years in the same place.  But at least only within 40 miles of present location.  Going to walk away from a lot of "stuff" that doesn't matter anymore.

Happy trails to you, tj.  Hope everything goes well, and the models arrive in one piece--at least the built-up ones.

Done that twice recently. One piece of advice. Pack a ready kit with the basics. It takes forever to set the bench up, and there is a need for a sanity break.

Good luck!

Good luck with the move. Know what you're going through. Just did it in November. My bench is ready but the boxes still have to be unpacked. Luckily I did what GM said and had a small plastic tool box with some of the necessities and a few kits that I took separately in my car on one of our trips to the new house before the actual move-in.

I keep hitting "escape", but I'm still here.

Yeah because you wake up and the 6 says- today we need to set up the dining room so we can have the neighbors over.

I welcome you to Florida.  Weather is normally good here, some say it's too hot, but I *** hot.  Been to too many very cold places.Look up our club if you are at Orlando during a meeting or show up for the Modelpalooza contest in September.

I've been to Ft. Meyers, but never to Naples. I lived on the East coast of Florida in Port St. Luice for a couple years. I really miss the Florida weather. Again, good luck on the move.

Hey TJ. Hope all is going well with the move and the house sale. As a veteran of many moves I will strongly recommend that you transport your models and anything you don't want damaged or handled by the movers.

As for Modelpalooza, it's about 2 hours from you and well worth the drive in September. For me it's just a quick 40 minute drive. I can keep you posted if you want and maybe you can have lunch with me, eagle90 and Jay Jay as we've been doing for the past 2-3 shows.

Well it seems in typical U.S. Government fashion. I work for the USPS. Everything takes time. My transfer will not go through until at least September maybe longer

I received an email regarding my transfer. They are reviewing my request. I've been told that everything should move along rather quickly at this point. So with that in mind I've decided to pack the bench. Hopefully to be unpacked soon

Absolutely!!!!  If you can make it this year, let's hook up for lunch!  We have a great time at the show and doing lunch has become a tradition.  LOL!  The show is great!  Keep us posted, PM if you have any questions, and hope to see you in September!
