He wrote me this very nice note last Fall after my stroke:

Hello Bill,

I was just checking in on you to see how you were feeling. Hopefully you are following your doctor's orders and taking it easy. You are so lucky that you made it home, and to the hospital before it got worst. Over the past few months I have responded to 8 strokes, which is a high number.

I believe I have over extended myself in the GB arena LOL. I am currently in 5 GB's which is too much. My fault (LOL)...I like joining them for the conversations and all the tips and techniques I learn. I have already planned to slow down with them after I complete these.

Bill, I am grateful that you are okay....and that you and your family are still whole. Make sure you do everything your wife tells you to do! (LOL). Be well, listen to your doctor's and get an annual check-up.

That is sad news, he spent his life helping others, and there is a special place for him.

Everyone here enjoyed his enthusiasm for the hobby and his improvement in skills, while he juggled family and work.  He will be missed by all of us in his modeling "family".

Your strength will carry you and the rest of the family.  May some light from above shine on you and yours.

I'm so very sorry to hear this.  Hunter participated in a few GB's I was involved with, and a couple I sponsored.  He was always kind and encouraging, a very warm and engaging person.  

My prayers are with you for comfort and solace.

Please accept my sincere condolences for your loss, Mrs. Anderson. No words of mine will ever be sufficient enough to convey to you my deepest gratitude for his service and dedication to the people of Montana. During last year's fire season, we collectively held Hunter in our prayers that he would come home to you safely from those great conflagrations. Our prayers are now with you and yours that you may find some degree of comfort in knowing that we, both in this forum and here under the Big Sky, count ourselves as fortunate to have called Hunter one of our own.

Though I never met him in person, I corresponded with Hunter on several occasions, and found him to be an exceptional person.  Always positive, and just a joy to correspond with. Two of the badges for the Russian Armor group build were sent to me by him, so I will think of him every time I see those badges.

He will be sorely missed by his "brothers" on the forum.

My prayers are with you and your family.

I send my sincere sympathy for your loss, Hunter had in such a short time made friends here, and contributed much to the forum members. His Dad and I had chatted for some time before he passed away, then Hunter found our private message talks on his Dad's computer, so he wrote to let me know of his passing. He said he was happy his Dad had found someone to just talk to, when he felt he wanted to.

And now we learn of this, the most saddening kind of news that no one wants to learn of. You are right, your family has been through too much, please use your personal strength in order to take care of yourself and get past this painful time.

As you said, you are blessed and grateful for the wonderful life you had together, let those times be at the front of your thoughts as the days go by. The happy memories will last a lifetime, the sad ones won't.

I'm happy that Hunter had you to love and cherish, and he could know that you loved him the same.

I’m with Patrick. Hunters father and I became friends here online and discovered we grew up on the same area and served at the same time, but went down different paths after Benning. Hunter and I started talking after his father passed. I know that he loved his family, this hobby, and what he did for a living. His untimely death is truly shocking to hear of. I will miss him.

Your family has my deepest sympathies.

As others did, i chatted with Hunters dad and after he passed Hunter and i chatted. It was great that he picked up the hobby after his dad and he was a great member of the group, very enthusiatic and very pleasent to chat to. This is really shocking news. Thank you for letting us know, and my deepest sympathies and thoughts go out to you and you family.

I cannot begin to understand the loss and feelings you are experienceing right now, have felt since Hunter's passing and will continue to feel for the time to come.  I know that Hunter made a huge impact on many people here when he took up where his dad left off after his untimely passing.  Take solace in the knowledge that he had many friends here, even though it was very probable that he never met any face-to-face.  That is the strength of a community such as ours.  Although we may not be friends in the strictest sense of the word, we are here to encourage each other in good times and support each other in not so good times.  It's now time for Hunter's friends to offer our support to you during your time of loss, grievance and healing.

We would like to thank you for all of the kind words and heartfelt messages for Hunter. We are doing our best to put the pieces back together after his passing. I truely wish you could have know him. Every parent does the best they can do to raise a child to become a proper adult. He exceeded that. 

Over 300 Firefighters, Law Enforcement and EMS personel attended his funeral. Nearly all of them came up to us and spoke of Hunter, and a story that related to that individual and Hunter. My son was immensely happy, giving,friendly, outgoing and very humble. 

The man that was heading up the final training phase of his Search and Rescue training (the day he passed away) came to me after the grave side service broken and in tears begging me to forgive him for not checking the anchoring system before Hunter went over the side of the rock face. I embraced this gentleman and whispered "No forgiveness needed...my son died doing what he LOVED" I also stated that he should not bear this weight, and to forgive himself of any guilt. 

My son was a Firefighter / Paramedic in the state he so loved. My son spoke of all of you that he communicated with, and did so in a manner of happiness and fondness. My son considered all of you his friend. Knowing that, he would have giving you the shirt off his back, or anything you needed with no hesitation.

Now isn't the time, but if in the future, any started models he didn't get the chance to finish, I along with (probably) others here would be honored to finish them and return them for the family.

   I have read your post three times, I think I can finally put to words my profound condolences to the way to early passing of your husband, son, brother.

    While I had not the relationship with Hunter that others enjoyed here on the forums, I always liked reading his posts. I had chatted with him here a few times, Hunter always had kind words for me. I always prayed for his safe return from his wildfire fighting jobs, and I hope I thanked him for his service to his community and the strangers he protected.

     People don't have to be close to be moved by an event such as this, it speaks volumes to the kind of man Hunter was. He will be missed. May God bless and soften your loss, through him all things are possible. Hunter is protecting every one of us now.

One of the things that I fear when being away from a forum is to find out news like this.  Hunter sent me a message that he was going to be away for a while so I thought nothing of it.  Growing up in Montana, being a member of a volunteer fire department, Mountain Patrol, and then a few years working on a hot shot crew, building models, we had a lot in common.  He was very supportive when my wife decided to go into EMS and become a paramedic.  

I cannot explain what I am feeling right now.  I never met Hunter in person, but just how he presented himself through this forum made so many of us feel like he lived next door.

I write this with tears in my eyes.  I almost can’t beleive that Hunter is now in heaven!  My heart hurts.  When Hunter first joined, I was a new member (Compared to everyone else on this wonderful forum) and he and I embraced that.  

Every aircraft build he did, I humbly and positively supported him.  Hunter would be on my builds and tell me what a wonderful job I did and from there we became best of friends.  I will always remember his words and I will never forget Hunter.  Please except my condolences and prayers to your cherished family.

I only just came across this post this evening and after reading the devestating and heart bracking news I have been moved to tears. From my family to yours, our thoughts are with you during this very difficult time. With time the pain will lessen but the memory Hunter will never fade.

I didn't see this until just now as well. He was a valued member of this community and a loss to us all. My thoughts and prayers with you and his family. 

There are no words to console you, I know, but I wish you comfort and peace. I can't say I knew Hunter, but did see some of his posts. As a long-time member of the forum, I must say it's tough when we lose members to illness and so on. It really hits home and reminds me tha life is short and we need to embrace the time we have.

First, thank you for taking the time to tell us all of Hunter's passing, not to many families would think of telling a forum community as you have. I would also like to send my condolences to your family i cannot imagine the grief and heartache that you all are going through. My prayers are being sent that you find healing in Jesus' presence. I personally did not know Hunter to well, but did partake in a group build or two with him and after reading all these responses plus the writing from his wife and family, it is easy to see why he was well loved. I feel as if I have missed an opportunity to really get to know a great young man.I

Jill, I hope you see this and my sencere sadness over his passing. I just found out about it last night and was crushed. I had received a double lung transplant in March and was not very active in the forums in May when you posted this.

I am trully crushed over this news. Hunter would email me his words of encouragement with what I was going through. The news of his father's passing stuck me very hard because his father and my father were very much the same, and they both passed due to cancer. It was like loosing my father all over again. I feelt close to Hunter because of that. I just emailed my wife (she is in Boise while I'm in Dallas for a year during my recovery) and attached your post. I'm having a hard time telling her over the phone as it will crush her. She asked me just 2 days ago if I had heard from him and I said no, he's probably busy with his new house and job, I'll hear from him soon.

I can not tell you how sorry I am. From what I knew of him he was a very kind and carring man. The world is a far worse place without him.
