No because we didn't even make the tourney.

Yay Croatia! My wife is of Croatian descent. Gets a lot of play here.

Predict Russia to win after officials red card entire Croatian team...

Watching a few of the games, thrilled to see Argentina get beat like that. Been a bit of a strange one so far with none of the top teams playing well.

It is an interesting tournament so far.  Lots of unexpected results make it way more fun.

Mexico beating Germany was a huge deal down here in San Diego.

Thanks,

John

2018 WC is a little weird starting out but good. I'm an underdog fan so today's Croatia vs Argentina match was awesome. Mexico Germany 1-0 was a pleasant surprise because since USA will not be in attendance, I'm a Mex fan.

I’m not a fan of the sport but I’ve been sucked in!  I’ve seen about 8 matchs now and I’m looking forward to more.  I was surprised to see Argentina get beat this morning.

Croatia's 3-0 win over Argentina takes a little luster off the 1-1 victory by the team I am rooting for, Iceland.

Now that was shocking. To be fair to Mexico, they are a good team and certainly not as low down as Iceland and Switzerland. But loeing your operner like that, not a good start. I am just hopeing Germany can pick themselves up for sat as Sweden will not be an easy game.

I think we might get a surprise winner this year, i just hope its not Portugal.

Been a great group stage.  I had picked Argentina to win as I love Messi but with the upsets and teams playing their hearts out - this why it’s the greatest sporting event in the world.  Japan beating Colombia, Mexico beating Germany all great spectacle!  It’s also great that with all the division in the world, we collectively stop arguing and fighting for a month every four years to unite around the drama that is the World Cup.

My wife is Korean so that is by default my favorite side after the USA.  As for the US not qualifying, the Italians and Dutch also failed, and besides maybe this is the shakeup that US soccer (at least on the men’s side) needs - let’s remeber our women‘s side is still the best in the world, too.

Saw that game, or rather, I took a nap and woke up in time to see the penalty kick ending. Congrats to Croatia!

Two games decided today by penalty kicks.  Very fun tournament. With Argentina and Germany out my only surviving pick in the office pool is Brazil.  Be up for that one tomorrow!

Thanks,

John

The world cup ended for me last Wed when Germany went out. Though it was a small consolation to see Argentina go out, never thought i would hear myself cheering for France Big Smile

It’s been a great Cup so far.  Japan - Belgium was epic today!  México and the Republic of Korea were my emotional favorites but the Koreans went out in the group stage and México went out today against Brazil. With the sides remaining, I would like to see a Uruguay - England final (Harry Kane vs Luis Suárez anyone?)  England still have to make it past Colombia in their round of 16 game, though.  Croatia look on form, too.  Gonna be fun two weeks!

I was thinking for a while that Russia might have gone through, England v Russia would ahve ben interesting given whats been happening this year, and i would loiked to have seen England wipe the floor with them. But it was nice to see Russia finally go out.

I thought for sure Croatia was going to lose in the PKs with that goalie having hamstring issues.  Fantastic match for sure.  I'm dead in the office pool with Brazil out.  Pulling for England now.

Thanks,

John

Can I get some help. I've been looking for a current Germany  matchup or upcoming game but I can't find them. Does anyone have any ideas? This is frustrating. I really like them but haven't been able to see their matches. I'm sure that they will repeat as champs! No one can touch them, not even Brasil!
