I remember watching a few Daktari shows.  Marshall Thompson comes to mind and Clarence the crossed eye lion too.

I love the classic lines of that LR!

Too many models to build, not enough time in a lifetime!!

The box art online just doesn't show up in scalemates, or any of the Rover fan sites I looked at. I am sure it's a figment of someone's imagination. The only branded Daktari LRs I could find was the smaller Corgi die cast toys.

Modeling is an excuse to buy books.

In doing a search for 1/24 scale Land Rover kits I stumbled across a Land Rover kit by Revell in 1/25 scale. The kit was based on the old Daktari TV series. The box said it was a Series 2 , it looked like a 109" wheel base box art showed it with a soft top.

I vaguely remember the series I think it was only on for one or two seasons . I'm just curious as to what years Revell produced the kit

I think the only Land Rover kits in the automotive scale (1/24 or 1/25) were the ones by Esci and a rare Monogram one. When Esci went under, Italeri got their molds. Italeri and Revell have shared kits many times. Monogram and Revell merged and now have one another's molds.

Monogram circa 1981 Land Rover: https://www.scalemates.com/kits/539173-monogram-2279-land-rover

Esci's (now Italeri) 109 LWB that was issued in civilian and military versions: https://www.scalemates.com/kits/228130-esci-3034-lwb-109-land-rover

I built the Esci paratrooper version in 1987. I thought it was a neat kit, but I am not a Land Rover expert. It seemed nicer than the typical car models of the time.

You‘re better off posting this in the Auto forum thread. This thread is basically for non modeling discussions.

Hi,

I did a quick google search and one of the few sites I could find included a Pinterest site, which was sub-captioned "these were never real but should have been".  As such, it is possible that any info or images that you may have found may just be something along the lines of "fan art", though I can't be certain.
