Love reading and rereading Shattered Sword

Incredible Victory is still one of my favorite books. And I did thoroughly enjoy The Midway Inquiry that I read recently.

Surely. I went to a presentation the other day at the library given by a woman who's father was a pilot in SB 6. Norman "Dusty" Kleiss.

He scored hits on Kaga, Hiryu and Mikuma. He lived to his 90's and just passed away several years ago.

She signed a copy of his book "Never Call Me A Hero" for me.

Always correcting me. OK hadn't thought of that. Well, it was June 4th in Japan, wise guy.

Lol! Midway is just one of my favorite subjects. And while the main event happened within a few hours on the 4th, the battle played out over several days. And the deeds of those outside of the main events should not be ignored. Lives were risked and lost.

The first day of the Battle of Midway.

Actually that was June 3rd. PBYs located the approaching invasion force, and those were attacked that afternoon by Midway based B-17s. During the night of June 3/4, the only successful US aerial torpedo attack of the battle is made by Midway based PBYs on the invasion force.
