IMO the finest in our history, and one where all gave their most.
Thank them for their service and pause to reflect on the world they saved.
Whether the fight was in Northern France, in the Med, in the Pacific, or at home; every woman and man gave everything they had to defeat tyrrany on that day.
God bless them all.
Modeling is an excuse to buy books.
A very heavy day. God bless those that answered the call.

Seventy-five years, gee has it been that long? Really makes me feel old.
God bless them, both here and gone.

I thought D Day was on June 5th. Didn't the 101st start dropping around 2000 Washington time
Pathfinders drops and the Orne River/Caen Canal bridges glider assaults began at 0015 hrs local time. The main body of the parachute drops began 30 minutes later.

But I'm only going to jump out of a perfectly good airplane if I'm pulling a Dave D.B. Cooper...
And he probably ended up fish food......
My guess is bear food.
Very well could have went that way too...
In case y'all missed this
A few fellow lieutenants and I visited the D-Day beaches in Normandy during the 45th Anniversary in 1989. Here is one of the pictures of me on top of a gun emplacement at Omaha Beach. I was 25 at the time.
Mississippivol: Very cool!
Rob: Nice photo! I really need to see all that myself someday...
Thanks for the link Mississippivol.

That's the Longues sur Mer battery housing a 155 mm Naval gun. I was there on this last June 5th and will post some pictures up soon. The place was a mad house and heard even more crowded on the 6th.
Too many models to build, not enough time in a lifetime!!
I watched Saving Private Ryan last night. The first 20 minutes of the movie are just plain terrifyng. In fact, the first 5 minutes of the film showing those young men in the landing craft was very emotional. Very brave people.
