Real G

I know this thread is a couple of months old, but I came across a photo I took back in 2017 so what the heck.  For those with a weak constitution, this is your cue to avert your eyes.

I rarely take selfies, but when I do I usually am doing something stupid/silly.  This pic was taken on our annual company retreat.  That year we were staying in Kona and were headed out for a snokeling cruise - with lots of rock-n-roll music, hot dogs and burgers on board!  That's why I'm grinning like an idiot.  Today, 2 years and 25 lbs later, I have to dial the tasty stuff back - a lot.

Thanks for adding you, G. Fun pic.

And thanks for bumping the thread too. I took a second look and enjoyed it just as much the second time around.

How about the Drifters pic?

Still figuring out technical issues I suppose.  Confused

Kinda weird.

Image may contain: 1 personNo door helicopter flight over Oahu and Pearl harbor.  How do I adjust the size of the picture

Wayne,  I suspect the facebook link is the cause of the Photo distortion issue.

The size is easy to fix. When adding the link use 640 as the first "dimension" entry.  That will give you a photo that just fits.No other data needed.  Alternately, click on your photo and you will see white squares at each corner and side.   Click and drag one of the corner squares to make the photo smaller.

As you see I adjusted your photo in the added quote to a smaller size by the dragging method.

That open door policy is a bit exciting when they bank the chopper but you can get great pictures as long as you don't drop the camera.

Hey, feel free to add some shots of PH.

The wife and I took a ride back in '96.  He took us to the top of one of the falls dropping into the ocean. He sat there for a minute or two letting us look at the falls and then did a peel-off going down the side of the falls. All I saw was the large handle on the door I was leaning against with words to the effect "Don't lean on the handle". My wife was leaning against me helping to push me against the door. When we landed, thank goodness, the guy in the office told us the pilot was ex-Nam and did that to everyone. I cancelled the  trip we were to take the next day to another island.

Mark, nice paint storage.  Built or bought?  I need this so bad.

I bought them from a guy on Etsy.com, called myshelfguy.  He sells them for $30.  I don't know if that's a good price or not, but it was fine for me since I have absolutely no woodworking skills.  They're good quality and unfinished, so you can paint or stain them whatever you want.

Cool.  I'll check it out.  Looking at 80 or so model master black tops is NOT helpful!

I don't believe I was shouting...and as far as amusing that my photo was attached at the time the original post was submitted....I had my photo attached, but after I hit the submit button it came off so I had to work on getting to stay. It wasn't like I was trying to deceive follow members to post their's and then I wasn't. I encountered a minor technical issue to resolve. I believe you are the only one annoyed by this, and if so.....

No annoyance here... but if this is the post you are referring to where your photo is attached, as you can see, it’s a stealth photo...

This picture was taken by my daughter on the day I was to shave my beard off, my wife was never a fan and had great fun comparing me to a wired haired fox terrier. I of course liked it but 18 months and a few beard oil bottles later it's day had come.

Using all caps is considered shouting in netiquette.

No one said you're trying to deceive anyone, and I'm not annoyed.  Again, it's just amusing that your pic is missing from a thread you started to ask people to show pics of themselves.

As far as your disappearing photo goes, my first post in this thread was to ask you what host you used, as a first step to offering to help resolve whatever problem you might have posting photos.

Most recent. A couple months back, I got my "high performance" endorsement. The owner/instructor keeps this plane at the airport I part time at. We flew down to Coldwater MI and back....I just had to pay for fuel and buy him lunch! "Propblast Cafe"...taxi right on up to it!

Funny thing...my very first commission build was this very airplane...almost 20 years ago. Ray, the owner, still has it on his desk!

Miracle grow? I just don't get mine cut! (believe it or not...my wife manages a hair salon...free or not...I don't want no haircut!)

This is about the only recent pic I have, that ya can see the mop.

This is last seasons "dumb luck buck". I came up over a small hill on the edge of my yard, to look out into the woods before heading in to my stand. He was all of about 15' away, down the other side of the hill. He went far enough, that it was much easier to go back home, then down to my folks place and go get him with the canoe.

Baron,

I don't believe I was shouting...and as far as amusing that my photo was attached at the time the original post was submitted....I had my photo attached, but after I hit the submit button it came off so I had to work on getting to stay. It wasn't like I was trying to deceive follow members to post their's and then I wasn't. I encountered a minor technical issue to resolve. I believe you are the only one annoyed by this, and if so.....

Still not able to post your picture, Drifter?  I ask because after all, you started the thread.

 OK BARON....WHERE'S YOUR PHOTO???

NO NEED TO SHOUT.

I'm not posting a photo of myself.  I just thought it was amusing that you started the thread, suggesting everyone post a photo, but you haven't posted one yourself.

Great photo Bruce...great looking family! My wife and I took our 2 daughters and their husbands there back in April of this year and had a great time. Did you get the express line package? My wife went online before we left and found a great deal on that package and boy was it worth it. I rode the Transformer ride 8 times lol.

It's funny you mentioned the SBS. I just got done ready a book on the history of the SBS (Special Boat Servies) and it was very informing and well written. I was surprised that it was formed in 1940 during WWII. I was under the impression that it was formed in the early 1960's.

Thye original SBS was a part of the Army. That was disbanded in 1946 and the title taken over by the Royal Marines.

That is interesting to know Bish. In the book I read it made no mention of that.

This shot was taken around 12 years ago. I still look the same save for about another 35 pounds. No worries though....been on a diet now for the last 2 months and lost 16 pounds. Slowly headed back to looking like guy in the photo here with my dad in Iraq......

Oh no, those were Jellicoe’s Boys. If you’ve ever read the Alister MacLean novel, Guns of Navarone, the team is SBS. I have read that there is a saying that they “do everything that the SAS does, with flippers.”

LOL...thank you Carlos for the heads up. I just ordered it off of Amazon. Looking forward to reading it. A good friend of mine got a 1/35 scale figure set of 2 SBS operators I'm looking forward to that build....just need to work on my figure painting LOL Wink

Great photo Gamera,

Is that the Blue Ridge Mountains in the background?

Recent vacation in North Carolina at Blowing Rock. It got it's name from the wind hitting the mountain and being deflected upward. It's supposed to snow upward there. There's a legend about an American Indian warrior who attempted to commit suicide by leaping from the mountain. However; the wind caught him and blew him back into the arms of his sweetheart. Real legend or something made up to attract tourists I dunno.

A few years old, 2011 i think, but i haven't changed much. As you can see, going grey isn't a concern. Hanging out with some feathered friends, Volunteer Point, Falkland Islands.

And they let you into the gala without your tuxedo? Man, you must be a real V.I.P!

P.S. I guess my pic is my avatar too. The pic is a few years old. I still had some hair then.

Friends in high places and all that Big Smile

I am a Norfolk man and i glory in being so
