Okay. Why must one post photos?
Posted by Tanker - Builder on Thursday, September 26, 2019 12:25 PM

Okay here's where this is going.

I post a lot, I think. I try to be helpful as I can be and paint word pictures. Why? Well, the camera went south with my wrecked Van. The new camera has kept me baffled. So No Photos.

Now that said, When I read some comments it scares me. Guys please tell me. Does my inability to post Photos make me the odd man out? I was taught how and then Photobucket did what they did. To rich for me .

I did post through Flickr, but, this new camera has a minicard. I don't know if it works with my Laptop. Haven't tried for fear it wouldn't . So I am asking in advance, please don't give up on me . I love reading and answering the posts I can. It makes me feel part of something besidesthe Rail Museum. Thanks Fellows.       Tanker-Builder        P.S. I know I have replied to old posts. My Bad. I didn't look at the date of the post till I got done and didn't want to waste the print.

TB,

My photophile friends shreik with displeasure, but I almost always use my phone camera.  Granted it cannot do stuff like manual focus or aperture adjustment, but the current phones take pretty good pictures that are more than enough for online posting.  I also use Flickr, and can't figure out how to post to the forums from it, but can at least upload pictures.  So I need to get to a real computer whenever I want to post.  Why not give it a try?

The camera got left in the drawer long ago when I got my first camera phone.  I started using it to take pictures at jobsites and realized I didn't have to lug one more piece of equipment.  Plus I no longer had to fuss with batteries and data cards.  And then I discovered on-line shopping...  Well that's a subject for another thread!  Stick out tongue

Tankerbuilder. Noone has to do anything, however as Tojo noted, we would really like to see what you do.

If you care to PM me with the make and model of your camera, I am sure I could find the manual online and send you the link. I also have some chip readers that I'd be happy to part with.

I also have a usb card reader than can read 3 different formats, and if you have the micro sd ones, I have tons of adapters to make them standard sd card size.

My wife put away my digital camera battery charger. So I can't find it and she doesn't remember where she put it away. This camera is a replacement camera for the one she "put away" and couldn't find either.

So I have been using my phone camera. I downloaded the Flickr app to upload photos from my phone and then repost here. I can also post to face book and repost photos here as well.

TB: I hate to say it but if you can't figure it out have you thought of having your grandkids, young nieces and nephews to explain it to you? I'm a fifty year old Gen-Xer and I have to have my nephews explain the newer electronic stuff to me sometimes. Bang Head

And btw both my old Galaxy 5 and current Galaxy 7 phone takes way better photos than my camera. You might consider just buying a cheap refurbished cell phone just for the camera.

I would post pics of my kits but have never got on with pic. hosting. It seems complicated and possibly costly. What is the easiest and cheapest, (free)? I will post pics per you request the if you can help me.

Don,

I thought the ancient Chinese saying was "Dead customer never come back to restaurant."  Oh wait, sorry.  I used to say that to my former boss and clients.

Gamera,

Um, letting kids access TB's phone will likely lead to weird wallpaper, ringtones, and stupid apps that he can't get rid of.  My solution?  I have an iPhone 5.  Nobody wants to touch that thing.  It probably can't even run some current apps.  Which is fine by me.  My current boss has one too; he even has the same Otter case!  I still can't figure out how to post photos from the phone though.  Maybe someone can teach me and TB how.

Tanker Builder,

Huh you know, I never did notice you don't post photos.  Maybe I'm too busy engaging in chitchat!  Stick out tongue  That's me - my report cards from elementary school spell it out.  "Distracts other kids during instructions" was a pretty consistent note in the comments section!

TB- we seem to be a visual bunch....ever notice that the kits come with pictorial instructions? Things stay in our minds better with pics.

Just kidding....lots of help for getting back in the groove.  We just need to know what you are working with and if you can/want to spend a few bucks on a hosting service (I use Imageshak, $20 a year, and easy to use when you have done it a few times).

Pics or not, I'd rather have you here - I love your posts.  I'm a terrible photographer.  I take pics with my greasy android phone on my workbench.  Don't sweat it brother.

Thanks,

John

What smartphone?

Life is what you get used to, so therefore I'm not addicted and have no use for 'em.

Saves me an extra bill (and hassles) each month and frees up money for hobby supplies.

I have a computer and the internet here costs way too much already but I've gotten used to it and addicted to it so........ learned my lesson on that long ago.

I only occasionally use a cell phone (no texting either) and I leave it turned off until I want to use it. To me a mobile phone (mini computer) is like having a leash around my neck that can be jerked at anytime. If anyone wants to talk to me they can call me at home on my landline.

Oh, and every picture I've ever posted here was taken by my trusty little "old" Konika-Minolta Dimage Z10 3.2 pixels. It's all I need and I still use it.

Hey Tanker, I wouldn't worry about not posting pics. It's the help and information one offers that's more important. Wink

If anyone is looking for a free hosting for pics, try Imgur I use it in a tropical fish forum I belong to and is easy to use.

Hello Gamera;

Nothing to be sorry about. Missing the grandkids and great grandkids is hurtful ,Yes. I just have to live with something I did years ago. I didn't know my daughters could carry a grudge that long !

Thing is, I am at peace with my decision. They DO contact me when one of the kids needs my kind of life input though. It's weird, but life is what it is right ?
