Lunch with fellow forum member
Posted by goldhammer on Sunday, October 6, 2019 6:48 PM

Met and had lunch with Patrick206 today.  Extremely nice gentleman.  He has generously donated a box of kits from his stash to the Veteran's Home in The Dalles, OR.  I'm adding some build tools, supplies and paints as my contribution to the cause.  Will be dropping all off there on the 16th on my way to Pendleton for a BLM advisory Council meeting.

Was a pleasure meeting you sir.....

It really is a great experience when you can formally meet forum members outside the confines of the laptop or smartphone.  So far I've had the pleasure of personally meeting and dining with Modelcrazy and Lewbud!

Yeah, had lunch with the Admiral (MC) and his SecNav a month ago.  Picked up the big HMS Victory from another member in person a few years ago up in Portland.

Important to do. I know that a few such as Bill Morrison (Warship Guy) visited with John Tilley when going around to Maritime Museums.

I'm currently good friends with a no longer active member who I kind of pissed off a number of years ago before I got banned for being a jerk. I don't think he knows, or should even care, but it's good now.

I do want to meet Stikpusher some day, it would mean a lot to me. The rest of you too.

Modeling is an excuse to buy books.

Thank you Goldhammer, it was a genuine pleasure to meet you and Jean, and thank you for lunch. The box of kits plus the tools you are providing for the vet's, will hopefully provide some enjoyment and give them some "busy finger time."

I can imagine how confining and often boring it is to be in their situation, those ladies and gentlemen that served so faithfully and gave so much, deserve all that we can do for them.

As you saw in my truck bed, there are still upwards of 80 kits remaining in my stash to dispose of, that still leaves me about another forty to work on.  I'm closing in on 80 years and know it's foolish to keep so many that I know full well I'll never have time to build. Our vet's are my choice for donating them.

Patrick, that is an awesome idea for passing on your stash. You’re a good man Charlie Brown. And it sounds like you have a had a good time at lunch.

Ive been fortunate to meet several of our current and former forum members in person such as Duke Maddog, Pathvet, Bitbite, Dr Faust, and another gentlemen, Robert, who’s screen name escapes me at this time. A great rogues gallery of plastic addicts and fine modelers in real life.

GM, I would love to meet up with you some time for food & drink. My days here in the DPRC are numbered though, and I’ll be heading off east of the Colorado in a few months.
