How red poppies came to be..

Wasn't there a poem, something like "In the fields... the poppies lie?"

In Flanders Fields is the poem.

Just a reminder folks, while in Europe, today is Rememberance Day, in honor of the end of WWI and its’ losses, here in the USA, it is Veterans Day, about the living. A slight difference on the focus. Our war dead are commemorated  at the end of May.

Yes, to all veterans, thank you for the service you gave to our nation, and thanks to your families.

Rememberance Day is marked throughout the Commonwealth to honour those who have fallen  since 1914. The French and Belgiums mark it as Armistice day and the rest of Europe have other days.
