Ah,To Model or Not to Model,That is the Question.

Okay;

     Where's he going with this? Right? Wrong ! We all build, over the years many of these plastic or resin miniatures, Correct? Now what do you call them? Models or Miniature Models? Think about that for a minute okay?

     I prefer and always have built Models. They are already Miniatures of the real thing. Whether they be Wood, Plastic, Brass or Resin they are still Models. Right?

      Now as to actually doing it. What is the primary thing involved? The Desire to create something that has reminded you of a high point in your young life.( Cars).  Next, to remind you of an event in history, which you glossed over in High School. ( Ships or Armor )

    As your tortured brain whirled from all the Input ( computer Speak there ) you stored a factoid that you now choose to act on. A Figure? A Diorama? Who knows, You do , don't you ?

     I find that sitting at the bench, opening the box and perusing the parts, decals etc. is as relaxing as reading a good short book.  Now open the instructions. If your're lucky, the mis-Quote or mis-Spelled item will make you chuckle,won't it?

      Okay, take the first sprue out of the bag, but before you do smell the air coming from that bag." Boy,I love the smell of virgin Plastic in the morning!" This then clicks somewhere in your Limbic system and your body follows suit and the model gets built.

     How do you feel? Rested ,proud and complete? The model sitting before you came out okay didn't it? Another foray into the world of the creator( Your Desire) of a model. That model will remind you, years later of your state of Mind at this time. Savor it like a fine wine. Me, well, I savor the wine, then build the model. It works for me.

Oh Yea Doc.  It's Outta Da Bag now!   If it's a Boat or Sub for one of the Grandkids I cannot help myself.  Right after "airing it out" I must cut a few parts off the tree. Dang if I don't have some form of OCD 'cause I must dry-fit the hull, throw in a nail or two, rubberband-it and off to the sink to see if she sits at water-line.  I put those parts and the ballast in the box and put'er on the shelf for the next "build".  It's good be a Kid again.      ( Sorry Folks, I don't get quite that excited over Armor or Aircraft., although I do ballst P-38's...)

P.S.  You mentioned Mis-quotes?  You must read the Historical descriptions on the Model Ship Kit boxes and instructions from Asia. There's a short story for you.
