Oh Boy! Christmas Shopping , Ugh !

Have You Dunnit?

Yeah, Christmas shopping I mean. Whatta chore for some folks. Personally I did mine, And yes I am bragging, In the Summertime! You might ask why? Well It's to far to drive to a enclosed Mall to People Watch this time of year.

This is what I used to do in California. I used to get up,make the Coffee, feed the Dogs,Fish,Dragons and the Frogs. Sit in the wheelhouse and watch the traffic leaving the neighborhood. There is something to be said about living on a boat. I slept better for one.

Anyway back to the topic. I would have breakfast then go warm up the car. Drive to Sun Valley Mall in Concord Ca. Find a bench near Cinna-Bon and start watching the folks Christmas Shopping.

You learn about folks and their habits and moods while watching.  Christmas Spirit? Mainly visible and tanagible in Grandmas and Grampas! Everybody else? it wavered between, In a Hurry and Oh,God where next?

My Christmas Shopping this year was done on Black Friday. Why? I Dunno. Just happened to forget what day it was. Nice gifts, nice prices and good model rail stuff for those friends. Model cars and other artsy stuff for my extended family. Jewel Art stuff for my landlady and her daughter. For myself? Nada!

I always buy myself sumpin for being a good old man one more year. This year it's not an option. Car Tags due this month. Oh well, I'll be legal for one more year, Gift enough. The Car is taking $ 75.00 bucks out of what I had set away for the full Bore Missouri model in 1/200 plus the Aftermarket detail sets.

So I will try for the old Birthday Gambit. Christmas Shopping ? All Done!

Same here, most of it already done. The rest I'm doing online- let the UPS and Fed Ex drivers worry about the traffic... Whistling

Pretty much the same here.  Got the Secret Santa GB gift today, my lady's gift yesterday ( new dishwasher for the kitchen remodel we are in the middle of).  Nothing for myself that I used to do when alone after the wife passed.  Did get the Airfix 1/24 Hellcat this past summer, so I'll count it as my gift to myself.

No extended family so I'm done.  Tags for the Jeep due next month, but haven't seen the bill for those yet.  But at least those are for 2 years.

We get ours done during the year. If it's for Christmas, it gets put in the closet till then. Anything else that comes up gets ordered by computer. I have seen a glimpse of something I think the wife is getting me for this year. While I was straightening up the papers on the table, I saw a print out of a Grex ad. I didn't make that copy, so, It could only mean 1 thing. She's either getting or has already gotten a full grex set for me. Guess this also means that it was meant for me to see so I'd get her something that cost about the same.Wink

I try to shop throughout the year but don't find out what she wants until Oct/Nov. I do most all of my shopping on the intenet so no lines. Just bought myself a birthday gift on Sprue Bros 20% off sale, paid for the shipping!

I always buy something for her as time goes by when I have the means. Last years ticked came to nearly $1500. The new phone, camera and years worth of car washes were the culprits there. Not so much this year.

I'm all finished, last week before Thanksgiving.  Mostly on-line shopping.  Had to go out today to pick up a prescription at Wal-Mart, and there was an absolute frenzy going on.  Parking lot was completely full.  Traffic up the wazoo as well.  For the rest of the year, I'm only going out to refresh my beer supply as needed.  Let everybody else fight it out!

Gimme a pigfoot, and a bottle of beer...

Yup, done here too. Spent far more this year than years past, but the wife and kids will be happy. OH CRAP, I forgot the dogs, better get on that. EER, what was I saying? All mine this year was online too, I hate going out with all the people nowadays. I few more days of work and its time to hide behind the bench for a month.

Steve, I agree, the best gift you can give you give her everyday.

Wife let me go to Sky Hobbies in Tukwilla on Sunday. Gave me $100.00 bucks and said have fun. Picked up a Acurate Models P51A. Haven't build a plane in any scale since I was 16. She supports me in my hobbies.

Nothing is impossible as long as somebody else has to do it.
