I vote, because there are people who died so that I could.  I don't miss an election.

Exactly, my reason for voting as well.

...However, for presidential elections, my vote really doesn't count. Idaho has 4 electorial votes. 4! that aint gonna swing ANYTHING...

That's not really true, in most cases.  It's Idaho's electoral votes, combined with the electoral votes of other states with smaller populations than those on the East and West coasts, that form a bloc, and that mean that a strict population majority is not enough to win the election.  Federalism still works.

The bigger the government, the smaller the citizen.

Your canidate may or may not win.  But that is not the point.  The point is that you say who should be there.  The winner will notice how many decenters there are.  Your vote matters.

We have about 700 voters come through our precint, not counting the people who vote by mail.

There's a big surge at about 2.30 to 3.30 pm. Parents stop by after picking the kids up from school.

Ask, our polling place has child ballots. Obviously they don't count, but I will have a poll worker sit with them and help them fill out the ballot.

I talked to a friend of mine today about voting. She said she mails in her ballot because she doesn't trust the voting machines.

Out of the 700 or so who came into our place (a building that's a part of a hotel complex that Clint E. owns), two used the machines. The others voted in all of the ways discussed above.

I pay taxes, so that gives me the right to complain.

VOTE!

If you don't vote, you lose your right to complain about the government at any level; municipal, county, provincial / state or federal.  It's a responsibility and right that many people from different areas in the world long for and will never have the opportunity to do.  Although your preferred candidate may be facing a juggernaut in their opponent, if the winner sees that the opposition is strong, s/he might change / alter their thinking because if they don't, voters can be fickle.

It matters because votes translate to interest from PACs and those kind of organizations.

Lets just say that at this point I am quite jaded. The elected representives for my area and state do not represent my views. And it shows no sign of changing. That is one of many reasons that I am leaving California.
Hopefully where I go, it will be better. So far I am liking what I see.

Don't come to Minnesota, we aren't much better here. The Twin Citiced ans Duluth carry the state but don't really represent true Minnesota.

I always have and will.

However, for presidential elections, my vote really doesn't count. Idaho has 4 electorial votes. 4! that aint gonna swing ANYTHING.

Yeah... I gotta agree there... for too long many things that I vote for or against, local and national, turn out the opposite. I still show up, but wonder why... my vote may be counted, but it sure looks to make no difference.

Thank you for being a poll worker. It's very important. Every election and every vote matters.

VOTE, this time and every time !

Thanks,

I re-upped to be a poll worker. I do this every election.

VOTE!

Probably 50% of the people who arrive to vote think that their vote won't be counted.

VOTE!

It will. If you got an absentie ballot and mailed it- done.

VOTE!

If you lost it, I will have someone sit with you and create a provisional ballot.

VOTE! (ok, enough of that)

If you don't have ID that matches your precinct, I will have someone sit with you to create a provisional ballot that if it passes inspection; will be counted.

If you haven't registered yet, in a maority of states your vote will be counted once your residency is confirmed.

So...VOTE!

Bill
