I don’t know who to feel sorry for more...the RN, or the US Marines!

Just wait until the Marines have to eat in the RN mess... two peoples seperated by a common language... and different menus Wink

I had a good Brit senior project manager who I worked for. A real Londoner, leftist and generally aweird guy. One of the kids evac'd from London during the Blitz.

We renovated and built about five City blocks of highrise towers together.

Often when I came into the office he'd say,

"Come begging for forgiveness, have you?".

The cooperation and achievements of the United States Navy and the Royal Navy together is a complicated subject.

The last real conflict between Great Britain and the United States was in the 1890's over the border between Venezuela and British Guiana, involving some mines.

We had a good friend we raced with...a true Brit to the core.

Every 4th of July he'd march back and forth dressed in a red jacket, waving the Union Jack, singing "God Save the Queen" while the neighbors celebrated.

King George is probably muttering " Bloody colonial spies".

At one of the diving units I was with, we had a Brit Chief Diver. Being of Irish decent, I used to give him lots of grief (all in fun) and of course, he always returned the favor with gusto. Thus we became good friends; so everytime a Royal Navy vessel came into port he would drag me with him to visit his countrymen. This always brought about several high specific gravity ales in the mess, and then a great night out on the town.

I have always enjoyed liberty with the Brits, along with the Aussies and Kiwis. A good time was always had by all.

But the most important question is .  .  . can they drink aboard the RN ship?

Just might make it worth while, all in the name of international cooperation of course.

A detachment of 10 USMC F-35s is going aboard the carrier HMS Queen Elizabeth for a NATO exercise. Very interesting....
