How? Did the Stimulis help your hobby needs?
Posted by Tanker-Builder on Monday, March 15, 2021 12:51 PM

 When I get it, I hope,I hope!

I then will be stimulated enough to get that new Camera I need so's youse guys can see pichurs ob me projects, ryte ? No really! the $ 600 dollar ones went entirely to paying back medical bill co-pays!

I didn't even get to go the the TEXAS shrine of Burgers-Yup ! No What-A-Burger for me. But my doctors and maybe their staff did. Well! one stop there by Proxy don't cut it. Anyway, I got my eye on a camera similar to the one I took the original photos with. It needs to be a size my hands don't fumble with and will fit a desktop tripod!.

Then you modelers out there that asked, I will try and inundate you with How-Too and W.I.P photos! See! That's my dream! I like to help out, But in explaining things, I have learned that a photo indeed speaks a thousand words ( or to use another phrase,(Photos Speak volumes, without making a sound! )

So there you have it. I must be stimulated for this to happen. So my Prayer is-Dear Uncle Biden, Or is it still Uncle Sam? Because I haven't heard of Uncle Sam in years. What did he do Retire?? anyway so my Prayer is" Dear Uncle, Biden, or Sam, May I please recieve a new Stimulus check. I've been a good boy Honest!"

Both the first and second went to bills. This latest one (her's and mine) will go to the wife for a down payment on a badly needed newer vehicle for her.

Priorities you know.

With it and our tax return we're paying off the wifes Escape. This choice should help me stay in the semi retired state I want to enjoy.

we're modelers it's what we do

The $600 one will pay the fuel bill for a one week mining vacation at the end of April.  Motorhome sucks a lot of fuel in a 1000 mile round trip, and have to take the Jeep and a trailer to haul the gear.

Uncle's $1,400 will go in the bank for help in the house remodel for new subflooring, and insulation in the 1973 mobile home.

I have bought probably 1/2 dozen kits, but would have with or without stimulus

1 and 2 went into savings.  #3 will be used to partially pay for the new couch I bought after my old one had a catastrophic failure of its reclining mechanism.

I want every dime to go to models and beer.  My wife wants new living room furniture.  Take a big guess who's going to win that battle.

First two went to pay down the debt that was rung up in the course of financing all my hobbies.

Third one likely will as well.  They will have trimmed about 7 months off my self imposed repayment schedule, and brought me that much closer to the debt free life I should have been living all along.

Hey TB, you thinking something like this? It's what my last stim check paid for. Been wanting to go digital 35mm for quite a while, so as they say; I has arrived!

Hmmm...yeah, I get it.

I'm lucky. I've no debt. I do what I want, when I want, with what I have/get.
Except for the dentist I haven't been to a doctor in 42 years.
That's what I get from being single and totally free from stress.
Wouldn't have it any other way.

Been eyeing me a nice gunbelt rig and a new Ruger Vaquero .45 or a Uberti cattleman pistol to take down to the range when my check arrives.

Think modeling is expensive? Ha!
I have the prior edition of this, the T6. I replaced the kit 75-300 with a Canon 55-250 which has image stabilazation, very useful for telephoto. I the added a Canon 10-18. I have uprgraded the 55-250 with a Tamron 18-400.   I picked up a used Canon 50 prime, the classic nifty fifty and a Youngnuo 35. Except for the 10-18, these upgrades were all used at camera stores or eBay. Word of warning...if you get tempted by one of those hundred dollar or so 500mm mirror lenses, run, don't walk, away. Totally useless.

Advice. If you haven't geta couple spare batteries. You never know when you'll be out and the battery runs out.

Remember, if the women don't find you handsome, they should at least find you handy.

Hi Ajlafleche!

Oh Boy,you are so right. My old unit was a 1954 Hasselblad with lenses. Bought it from a friend of mine that retired from a newspaper as their prime Photog. The Main Lens was shattered in the concussion wave from the Challenger.I was there with Family to supsuport " Teachers in Space" from my state.

As far off shore as it was it did seem to pick unusual glass things to be cracked or shattered that day. That camera,as an older 35millimeter film based camera was as dependable as a " Timex" and never gave me any trouble. Couldn't even find a new lens for it. Camera store tried for the better part of the year. Said they no longer made parts for that model.

So I went to Canon. and my last was a 14- megapixel, turn screen tripod model. I loved it. The " Mother" board? Died. Couldn't afford a new board. It cost more to fix it than get a new one. Wife passed, Bills and all that. Was given a wee little Canon , but because of it's small size I have trouble handling it.

First off, Sorry 'Bill', didn't mean to step on toes.

And Then . . . I've been running Canons for years, specifically the AE-1 Program. I got it and a bunch of lenses (28mm, 50mm, 135mm, a 70-210, and a doubler) and used it to good effect. Unfortunately film and processing are getting ridiculous, both in price and availability.

So, I've finally moved on to digital and absolutely love it.

No, because the pandemic made me an essential worker which increased my working hours (12.5 with commute). So I have plenty of money coming in, but no time with which to spend it. I don't "need" the stimulus because of the mandatory overtime; I have only missed one week of work (last week of March 2020) while the company implemented social distancing protocols in the factory. We were paid unemployment for that week.

Other forms of spending money, going to the movies, out to eat, other forms of entertainment, were eliminated. I have increased my video game playing time at 2:30-3:30 AM.

I've been pretty happy with my Nikon D90 for photographing my aircraft.

Not one bit of help for my models or anything else. The wife and I don't qualify for the latest giveaway that all taxpaying Americans are funding.

and your taxes go thru the roof as well... somebody has to pay for all the giveaways... what schools seem to fail to teach is that all of the government's money comes from our pockets.
