Help Identifying 1960's Era (Liberty?) Ship Kit

Try asking in the ship forum.  The Trumpeter kit has been discussed there in the past and there are some pretty knowledgeable folks there.

A picture would confirm it, but it sounds like the Revell Hawaiian Pilot. That kit has been around a long time, and it represents a C 3 cargo ship. Maybe 10 years ago Revell of Germany reissued it in their end opening green box. Those will be much cheaper than the old Revell kit with the painting with the palm tree and the cockatiel..

It has a flat bottom, correct?

The scale is closer to 1/375-400.

It's a nice model, if dated. Keep an eye on eBay, you should be able to get one for $ 35- $ 40.

Definitely you want to keep your dad's model, restored or not.

Trumpeter first brought out their Liberty ship in 2004, so you'll know it's not the one your dad built. I do not know of any plastic Liberty ship kit prior to that, in any scale.

Thank you @ GMorrison, you have put me on the right path. I checked out the C3 model and it is closer to what I have than the Brown however I don't think it's quite it. The C3 has no structure at all on the stern and this model has a structure with two gun tubs and then another gun directly on the stern. Based on the C3 idea I did some Googling and found pictures of the C2-S-B1 which really looks like the ship. However I can't fin a model kit for that ship. I will leave this post here and I will also take Don's advice and put a post in the Ships section.
