Anybody have a Finelite?

Which Finelight are you looking at? A desk light or ceiling fixture? (I don't know which ad you are referring to)

I use a high output flourescent hanging ceiling fixture myself (it is very high output, loaded with bulbs and extremely bright). If I were buying the same type of fixture now, I'd get an LED one.

But to comment on LED lights in general, I've gone through several of the tripod-mounted halogen worklights you mentioned, lamp light is pathetic and I am in process of tossing them as I get around to it. I recently got a newer, LED version and am quite happy with it so I think you'll like LED lighting in general.

Hope I didn't wander too far from your question subject, and that this is somehow helpful.

Yikes! Kinda expensive if you ask me. I wouldn't pay that much for a light. I got mine at Staples for under $50

I use a 2-light fluorescent work light 4" x 4' with daylight bulbs attached to the bottom of the overhead cabinet above my work bench. It gives me plenty of light. If I need more for any reason, I have a moveable 75w light with a magnifier on the side of the bench that can be easily swung over to where it's needed. It only cost around 25$ at home depot.

Having no idea what a Finelite is, I looked on their website and thought you were looking for ceiling-mounted 'shop-type' lighting.

I wasn't even close and my reply had nothing to do with what you were asking, so, sorry about that.

It is not sunlight matched, but how often do we display our models in sunlight?

I saw one of those today at a garage sale, although I didn't buy it as I've got decent lighting. Years ago, I found a small Ott-Lite at another garage sale and for a while that was my main workbench light until I found a portable fluorescent desk light in the apartment dumpster. I fished it out, replaced the tube and it still works perfect! The Ott-Lite I still have, and it goes with me when I model on the road.

I have one like it texgunner , they are brilliant

For being only a 30 watt fixture, the amount of light it puts out is amazing. I also have a flourescent magnifying light clamped to the desk and I want to replace that with LED as well. Might even install a 4' LED in the ceiling over the desk. You can never have too much light at a modeling desk. Good luck.

Yours sounds more like mine.  I used the Amazon product just as an example.  I believe I bought mine at Hobby Lobby several years ago.

Hi Rudy !

 I have two OTTLITES purchased when a store went Out of Business . They cost me all of 40 bucks for the two .Brand new in the box , one desk and one floor model . They and a very old 60 watt desklamp on an adjustable snake neck with and LED bulb are what I use .

    For the main shop I have two 48" superbright Flourescent lights and they are not the best in the winter .Though heated ( somewhat ) the garage lights seem to fail on a semiannual basis.   T.B.
