Ah ok, so I guess they are about the same thing.

I'd post some sprue shots but I really don't want to take them out of the plastic bags till I'm ready to build them.

Well they are conceptually the same sort of thing. Just Gundams are from cartoon anime as opposed to Pacific Rim being live action film based. Just a human inside and operating a large armored fighting suit. Sort of like the suits in Avatar are similar to what Heinlein describes in Starship Troopers.

My latest additions to my stash.  Gamera, those Jaegers are cool.  I don’t need them, but it‘s going to be hard to resist getting them

Gam, I'm happy to see some Pacific Rim stuff finally. I know someone came out with Gypsy Danger a little while back, but I haven't seen the second movie yet. Most likely watch it on Cimema when it come out.

Knox, I like that Storm Trooper.

MM, great picks, I like that Heinkel. I have a soft spot for float planes. They're a mix of both my loves, ships and planes.

Yeah, guess there's only so many ways to make a jaeger, mech, whatever you want to call it! 

Knox: Cool, I too think that Storm Trooper looks really cool. 

Steve: Uprising is good, nowhere near as good as the original though. Pretty much your typical sequel. I liked that John Boyega got to play the hero this time instead of a Storm Janitor and Newt gets a much bigger role. Could have really used some Ron Perlman (though any movie is better with more Perlman!) since the cast were kinda flat.

Two Jaegers. I'm still waiting for Obsidian Fury to come in. 

I thought I'd try a 1/350th ship and figured a destroyer would be smaller and simpler:

And a Nakajima G10 Fuguka (Mt. Fuji) America bomber designed to cross the Pacific, cross the US/Canada bombing targets at will, continue across the Atlantic, and then land in the Third Reich to refuel and rearm and then repeat in reverse. It's a BIG honkin' plane even in this 1/144th version.

 

Cliff, I bought the Gypsy Avenger kit for my son for his birthday. He built it last night and it's a really cool kit. Bandai does an outstanding job engineering these kits and the Star wars kits. 

And I'm really interested in that big bomber, I hope you do a WIP for that build. Looks like a monster of an airplane.

Mopar Madness

I’m kind of excited about these two! The Ta 183 is the new 1/48 Academy offering of the earlier AMtech molding.  The Special Hobby He 115 looks like it’s going to build into a pretty impressive machine. The 183 is in the mail,  should arrive in a couple weeks. 

 

 

 

Wow, MM, I really like the Ta183. I've been looking for a kit in 1/48. Nice grab! I've read it was the design inspiration for the MiG-15.

Bruce: Thanks for the review! I've only partially built one of their SW kits. I stupidly decided to cut the thing up to add lighting and well... I should have built it straight from the box...  Still the engineering was fantastic.

Not sure when I'll get to the plane. I was pleasantly surprised, I was thinking it was a reboxed older kit but this thing is state-of-the-art. I didn't pull the sprues out of their bags but the molding is super crisp and finely detailed.

IJN Kagero Class: 388.8ft 118.51m

USN Fletcher Class: 376.2ft 114.67m

IJN Shimakaze: 424.9ft 129.51m

Pretty insane ship, she had experimental boilers with about a third greater pressure than normal allowing her to scream along at over 40 knots plus a massive torpedo armament. Only problem was she cost about as much as three standard destroyers so the IJN naval board dropped production on anymore of her class.

I hope you'll do a demo (hint, hint, nudge, nudge) on how you do water before I do anything with her...

I can't keep up with you guys!!  I do check this thread frequently, and am constantly jealous of all those great kits you are getting.

So this came in the mail this week:

The review called it a "diorama in a box".  Includes multiple bagged sprues, two actually decent brushes, Humbrol acrylics in little plastic pots,and a 45 page instruction booklet.

My first Airfix kit, and first UK plane.  Look Bish, it's not a Spitfire! 

Oh that's cool Dwayne! I picked the USAAF ground equipment set over a year ago and assembled them. Great fit and detail! Only issue I had was they were make of some of the softest plastic I've seen. Not an real issue but I did sand down a few parts too much until I noticed what I was doing and went with a more delicate touch.

Nice set. The brushes that come with the their kits are pretty good. They take up a good precentage of the kits cost if you were buy them sepratly.

I'm working on a calm water tut for YouTube as we speak. It's not at all polished, in fact I think I sound pretty stupid but hey, they should get better. The next one will be rough seas.

Since we all know that “lack of willpower “ could never be the cause of a kit purchase, I shall blame this purchase on an earlier post by Gamera.  They look like they will be a lot of fun to build.

I have the larger 72nd set and looks really detailed and yours does look like it has everything it needs for a dio.

WOAH!!!!!  I was not aware they made Pacific Rim stuff!!!  My daughter loves the movies and I think if I was to try my hand at this genre, this is where I'd start!  I see they are Bandai...are they snap fit like the Star Wars kits?  Sorry for the novice question on robots.  New genre for me.  :)
