Hello everyone,
I was wondering if anyone knows where one can buy 1/72 metal barrels for the Takom 1/72 Yamato turret that is not shipped from China. I see them on EBay and a few other sites but they all ship from China and take about three months to arrive. So, the question really is does anyone know of any US base sites or model exchanges that might have them.

I am guessing these barrels are very new out, i had not seen any and they are not listed on scalemates yet. I even did a search and came up with nothing. I would imagine in time they arrive in other countries.
What company are these being mae by, i'm not aware of any of the top metal barrel companies being based in China, most are in Europe.

I found some only a month out but that is still pretty long. They are very new, I don't know who makes them but here is a link to some on EBay.

Yeah, I might just go with these ones even though they are a month out. I mean I could always just work on one of my other thousands of models for the time being. ;) Still though I would have like a shipper a little closer.
I see they have opne for the Bismarck as well. I don't recognize the packaging, probabaly some small new outfit, they are springing up in China almost daily.
I would gues you wil be waiting more than a month for these to show up in local hobby shops, might as well order direct. Let us know what you think.
Well after doing hours of research, I have found the company making them just started this year. That is why they are not everywhere because they are so new. I'll most likely order them directly from the shipper and see if he has a way to expedite the shipping process. If not, they said the slowest way is 45 days at maximum, which is not to long. I doubt though we will be seeing these in the US for a while. ;)

The name of the company is timosmodelworld. It looks like a company that has just started up that sells (including some other stuff) special after market barrel, such as the Yamato ones. Here is a link to it.

I would buy them now. So many of these companies are created and dissolved on an order by order basis that if their sales slow they just disappear. Walmart has made an entire operational strategy of this.

Hmmm, not bad. I've already built the Yam turret but haven't started on the Bismarck yet. I may have to give them a try.

I am hoping a company such as Aber or RB will produce barrels for these, hopefully with rifling. I think i would rather wait out for one of those.

I think I am going to go with these ones. Like modelcrazy said a month is nothing really.
The barrels finally came, not as long a wait as I had expected. These barrels I would recommend to anyone building these types of turrets, excellent craftsmanship. Also, they come with 8 metal shells and real wood decking. Only problem I have with them is they are not hollowed out, but nothing I can't fix with a little drilling and some black paint. So, once again, if your building one of the Takom turret, I would recommend getting yourself some of these.

Another option instead of drilling out the bores deeper would be to create the tampons commonly seen on naval rifles to protect them from the elements when no action is expected.

The term is tampion (or tompion in Royal Navy usage). A wooden plug or metal/canvas cover for the muzzle of a gun. The other is an absorbant material, usually for blood. Both tampion and tampon have the same root in Old French, for a plug
