PFJN

Hi,

After seeing some really nice recent builds of older passanger planes by Don Stauffer, GMorrison, and Greg Bale in the Airliners and Civil aircraft forum, I let my impulses get to me and went out and bought a copy of the Glenco/ITC Curtiss Condor, as shown below.  It especially appealed to me because it can be built as a plane used by Adm Byrd on an Antarctic expedition.  Unfortunately I know I won't be able to get to this kit for awhile, since I have recently signed up for a couple group builds, but I am looking forward to getting to it eventually Stick out tongue

PF

Condor1Condor 2Condor 3

That is an impressive kit PF. That will build up into one gorgeous aircraft. Choice score indeed.

My Wife my son and I were at Ikea over the weekend helping him transport some furnature that he bought when we were just looking at stuff and I happened to mention as we passed the cabinet section that this would be great to display my models in,  never in my life did I expect her to say "well get it" !!! I about fell over.

Well now I have to find a place to put it!

John

I actually got the one with black wood.

Very nice addition John. I pretty much felt the same way when my wife supported me when I found the huge cabinet I got a few months ago. I've got to say that the level of excitment of getting a new display cabinet is second only to bringing home a new kit.Big Smile

I unexpectedly scored this awesome kit off of a FB auction. I'd never seen nor heard of this kit before. It's a sweet short run multi-media kit. Got it for a bid of $30.00 when there was a "Buy It Now" option for $50.00. I knew for sure that someone would take that option. But, alas, my bid stuck! The seller was not a real happy camper that this went so low. Oh well, my gain.Big Smile

Very cool! I'm starting to really like Italian aircraft and their amazing camo schemes. You got a great deal there too!

Hot off the 3-D printer is Falcon 3D's Star Wars gang going for a ride to Mos Eisley.  These figs are meant to be used with Revell Germany's 1/14.5 (??!!) X-34 Landspeeder.  Falcon 3D claim the kit is more like 1/19.5 (what is WRONG with you Revell Germany?), so the figures are scaled accordingly.  1/19.5 is close enough to 1/20, so I'm happy.

https://flic.kr/p/P8h26K] [/url]Landspeeder Figs by N.T. Izumi, on Flickr

The tiny bit in the foreground are Obi-Wan's fingertips - the Force must have been strong during shipping!  But everything came in massive balls of bubble wrap, so it's puzzling why they are detached.  But it will be easy enough to fix.

The RoG Landspeeder is toyish and pre-painted, but like others have demonstrated, with a little TLC and a new coat of paint, can be made to scrub up nicely.  So until Bandai decides to do one in standard car scale (1/24), this one is the kit you are looking for.  Now move along.

I made the mistake, of teaching my dog to scratch-build.

So he made me 9 of these...

Gideon didn't have to use any putty on the seam's..... and as far as I know, didn't look at the instruction's once !

Whiniford chose the color's, and did the exterior "Flocking".

Dont worry about the thumbprint, paint it Rust , and call it "Battle Damage"

G, did you get those from Shapeways?

That's funny Timmy.

Well I couldn't stand it anymore and had to pull the trigger. I probably won't get to it for a while but at least it's in the stash. Maybe waiting for the next modern, Navy, carrier GB. I'm really starting to get into modern (Cold War, present) AC.

Steve

Building a kit from your stash is like cutting a head off a Hydra, two more take it's place.

I’m excited for this one to arrive, but it’ll take a while since it’s coming from Russia. I have a Russian coin depicting Arktika, and a great Soviet stamp commemorating its ‘77 expedition to the north pole.

Hope you do a build thread on that one.  I've been thinking about dipping my toe into ship modeling and I really like the commercial ships/ice breakers

Thanks,

John

Rambo, the real fire test is when the Landspeeder figures get primed.  The print material is translucent so it is very hard to see detail, and the phone camera can’t focus on them.

Steve, the figs came direct from Falcon 3-D in Canada.

All up cost was about $100 shipped to Hawaii, but considering the cost of a 1/20 resin figure X4, and it is relatively reasonable.  Or not.  But (early) Merry Christmas to me!

I’ll post additional photos in a bit.

Timmy you could call the bent tail job as a " pre formed trim tab" garunteed to always turn right.

Real G love your new avatar, looks like me when I'm checking out my airbrush issues....never works pointed at the model however always sprays when away.

With this year rapidly coming to a close, I managed to get my internet shut off, not by choice, so posing pix of my limited acquisitions has been curtailed. I managed to pick up a 35th Italeri BOFORS, a 72nd Handly Page British somethingorother, just looks really cool,  Hasagawa 72nd B-24, all for 6 dollars, then at the following model club meeting laid hands on the Monogram U.S.S. Voyager, and a 35th Lindberg T-55 cor FREE. Here I am trying to manage my stash and kits just fall in like a black hole.

Next year may be better for me, until then y'all just have to take my word for it. SOMEDAY everything will come together and then I will be open for critique.

I plan on it. I built my first ship model last month and it was very satisfying when all was said and done. With this one I want to make it into a diorama, with Arktika smashing through the ice. I‘d also like to somehow include the stamp as part of the diorama, it’s pretty big and impressive, and outlines the ‘77 expedition route.

Those B-24's are nice kits, and really hard to get hold of and go for a pretty price when they come up.

Thats one of the cool things about the annual little show, some of the fellas thin their stashs and one could wind up with a very nice kit at a better price. My goal for it was to make it a U.S. Coastal sub hunter, I have decals for one already but with some research I found that the Hs were cinverted to a single tail and called a Privateer. Thats ok though the kit decals look reall cool so, I'll find an earlier mark someday and make my sub hunter.

I picked up some Tamiya primer at a shop today and saw a little Tamiya Waterline 1/700 Aussie Navy destroyer Vampire kit. I grabbed it. I figured it would be a nice kit to make my first diorama with before doing the larger Arktika.

I know Eduard have been re-boxing the hase kits, most seem to be RAF versions. Surprised they didn't do a privateer.

Which set of markings does yours have, i know there did several boxings.

The drawing was based on an actual incident involving a rattlecan of black, fingers covered with paint from wiping the spattering nozzle, and an unforunately placed dot of paint on the nozzle that looked a lot like where the paint comes out of!  Only the names of those involved have been removed to protect  the guilty.

My most recently received acquisition was Tamiya's F-14A Tomcat, 1/48. I also just did a pre-order for the new Airfix Bristol Blenheim Mk IV, 1/48.
