Picked this up at Goodwill for $4  they had only glued a couple of things together, everything is there. It's 1/72,  I will need to get new resin ejection seats though.

Steve5: Ohhhhhh what a nice set of battleships!!! Heart

SP: And guess I'm a little late, should check this more often but love those tank crew figures. I'm going to have to pick up some of those for myself.

With the email notifications out for now I've missed out on some action here recently. Certainly some nice gets going on.

Steve5: Wonderful haul of boats there. I used to have the Prince of Wales for several years and then ended up trading it to someone who really wanted one. I really to get a new one as it was a kit I truly wanted to build.

I've only recently added this one kit. It's sure to please Bish, as well as myself. I've got masks, resin exhausts and metal Flak 18 barrels on the way for it.

Thats a nice kit, better than their 32nd one in fact. I built it as the last part of my Hans Rudel build, i had some Aires resin guns which came with the kit so i didn't bother with metal barrels. You should enjoy that.

I did the white wash over mine.

[/quote]Now that is one sweet score Steve. As I recall, this design was loaded to the hilt with torpedo launchers and fast to boot. I've looked at possibly acquiring the newer Tamiya 1/700 kit of this lethal boat.

Pinched this on ebay just before Christmas ;)

Help with the colors here.  I've got the rescue yellow but the blue/grey lower I'm not sure on.

Thanks,

John

John, just a guess but that would be the extra dark sea grey which was standard on RN aircarft of that period. I use Xtracolor, Airfix kits recomend Humbrol 123. Not sure about other paint ranges.

Steve: Happy Birthday and congrads! That is a great kit of a really badass destroyer.

John: Ohhhhh cool chopper! That wasn't the same type as the 'Screamin' Mimi' from the '80s US TV show 'Riptide' was it?

PS: OK looked it up- the 'Mimi' was a Sikorsky S-58 T. Still the nose looks very much like it.

Someone tipped me off that a book was available on the art and design of Bill Campbell, the man who did the artwork for Hawk Weird-Oh Kits, that inspired the manufacturers to make those plastic kits...................

It's £25.99 here in the UK and $39.99 in the USA. There are 700 illustrations in this book. Some are of kits that are made and some that were too complex to make but the artwork is in there too.

Brilliant for those interested in Hawk kits. 192 pages all in colour.

Again from good old ebay UK a used Monogram '29 Ford Roadster Pickup, just a few bits missing to make a whole one (a frontwheel & tyre) but two running board frames/two chassis/two bonnets/hoods etc, so plenty to build at least one and a half as soon as I find another front wheel & tyre!

Picked up some new ejrction seats to replace the wrecked ones that came with my Goodwill find.  Also got a 1/144 harrier,  I tell you these 1/44 Revell of germany kits are really cool!  they'er as bad as the BANDAI star wars kits.

Added a couple of nice limited run kits. I won both on a FB auction. Pretty excited to score the Harpoon. Been wanting one for quite some time.

Does anyone have any experience with Valom kits? This is my first one. Sure looks nice OOB. Certainly has 2 interesting markings. In addition to the captured Luftwaffe markings it also has decals for the USN all yellow version. Pretty cool.
