Nice!  I haven't done a big rig since I was a kid.  When are you doing that build?  I want to watch.

Thanks,

John

Man, there are some great deals being had here!  Love seeing what everyone is getting.

Here is my latest finds from the PAMS show in Plant City, Florida.  It was a great show!

I also picked up this tardis for my sister who is a big Dr. Who fan.

Gamera

Those are cool John, congrads!

Greysnake: Very neat! Sounds like my last order from HobbyLink Japan, two weeks to get to the US east coast and then seems it sat in NY for about a week before they got it to me. How friggin' long does it take to ship something from NY to Virginia? Heck I can drive that in a day or so...

And I have to wonder if that's the same T-80 kit I built about twenty years ago? I was going through a box of scrapped models last night and came across it so it was kinda on my mind.

I’m with you on shipping times. I had one item take a week to come from California to Arizona. Meanwhile I had a figure from China take six days to get to me.

That very well could be the same T-80 Dragon made four different versions of the tank. Think they all share the same lower hull along with other parts.

Deffinetly going to have to grab one of those Triebflugels. Look forward to seeing you build one of those G. And hopefully we might get some more Luft 46 in the larger scale.

GreySnake and Gamera,

I am over the moon that we finally have good quality injection molded kits of this wacky Luftwaffe 1946 design!  Seeing an illustration of it in a book back in grade school planted the seed of interest in those "what if?" designs.  It almost got snuffed out when I looked through an early "secret weapons of the Luftwaffe" type book that had badly drawn black & white doodles of many German paper projects, which included UFOs!  The illustrations looked like they were drawn by someone who could not draw, with bad proportions, off perspectives, and wiggly lines.  When Huma produced a 1/72 low pressure limited run kit of the Treibflugel back in the early 1990s, it rekindled the Luftwaffe bug in me.

Yeah the Triebflugel will take up some shelf space, but since the wings are high up, the "regular" airplanes can fit under it!  And I can remove the wings for compact storage if need be.

1/700 ship models are the Devil's choice.  The crazy knob goes to 11 with those teeny printed North Star figures, but the Japanese have a new knob which goes to 12.  And I hear they are working on a prototype knob which goes to 15 or so.  Watch the pages of Model Graphix magazine to see how far they push it.  No really, they are going nuts trying to outdo one another.  1/700 is now the new 1/350 in Japan.  Lucky me that I am staying out of that fight.

RG those Triebflugels look really interesting. Imagine they take up some room once finished? Those 1/700 figures are crazy. I thought 1/144 figures were small.

Nice pickups keavdog

Pretty sure the mail lady hates me at this point!
Bought the Dragon kit almost two weeks ago and the mail did their best to lose it. Tracking never showed anything its entire journey. The Zvezda T-80UD I got just because it was less then $10. It’s an old re-box of a Dragon kit and I’m sure horribly inaccurate. Sure Trumpeter has a much better kit but this is more of a challenge for me. When I was around ten years old I attempted to build Dragons T-80 with reactive armor and didn’t succeed. I’m hoping with twenty one years of experience I can finally finish one.

Lucky thing I don't do 1/700 ships!  I do wonder how my friend will paint these guys.

Be careful painting those 1/700 guys G. They might break off and hide in your brush.

A big scruffy package showed up at my office this morning!

https://flic.kr/p/2ggVhmZ] [/url]Hobby Terra Haul by N.T. Izumi, on Flickr

I got so excited that I ordered two Triebflugels, despite the impending release of Amusing Hobby's 1/48 rendition.  The Do26 was an impulse purchase - another really difficult kit for the stash!  Maybe my still unfinished Beriev Be-10 was going so well that I got a little overconfident/cocky.  Stick out tongue

The odd looking Cobalt Valkyrie is for a friend, along with a bunch of tiny 1/700 people from North Star (which look like strips of Velcro out ot the box).

Thanks guys!

MM: Glad to see you still keeping Airfix in business! Wink

PJ: That's a fine looking bike, congrads!!!

Tankboy51: Not a big fan of the show but the 'Discovery' is um.. interesting looking. Hope you post the model when you finish her.

Greysnake: Now that's a heck of a haul! Yes

Damn dude! What town is that hobby shop in? I’ll be residing in AZ starting next year...

In Tucson called "The Hobby Place at Ace." They have a pretty good selection of of model kits and supplies. Prices are more or less what you would pay online. I usually only visit once a month or so as it’s a two hour round trip for me. They seem to be sort of an oddity as they carry zero R/C.  Only game in town other then Hobby Lobby after the HobbyTown went fully R/C.

I had completely forgotten that back in the 60's and into the 70's even, hardware stores often carried model kits. Another fun memory, thanks.

GS - Nice model of the 1/200 Arizona on the counter there.  Pic in gallery here.

PJ - Don't remember model, or even color anymore.  Was a 10 speed and had the drop bars on it.  Got to where I couldride upright and just steer with body shift most of the time.  Many times took a ride out to Junction City, about 13 miles from home, with long stops at the airport.  Think it was around $125 new.

Nice find PJ.  Takes me back to '71 when we moved to Eugene and I attended U of O.  Bought a new one to get around campus and town. Put many a mile on it.

Thanks GH. Which model was it?

Here are my acquisitions from late April till now.

Found the Swedish CV9040B at a second hand store complete andfor a steal. The Tiger I and E-25 were gifts from a friend. Everything else came from either my nearest hobby shop or eBay. Started on the Dragon Firefly already forgot how bad some Dragon instructions can be. Not to mention some of the attachment points on the sprue are questionable.
