Jay Jay, good question. I actually put the bust to one side for 6 months at least trying to decide how to do the fur. In the end, i painted it al over with Tamiya red brown, did an oil wash, raw umber i think, and then successive layers of dry brushing with oil paints starting with a raw umber base and adding more and more lighter colours, yellow orche and orange mainly. I think it took about 2 weeks as i left each layer to dry for 2 or 3 days. It was my first time doing animal fur, i was really pleased with the result.

Brad, i have been wanting to do some busts for ages, but just never got round to buying one. This was my second, both bought my the Mrs as birthday presies because she liked to see me doing something a bit different. I have a 3rd that i need to get finished, and i realy wnat to get some more, including more Roman ones. And apart from anything else, doing the busts has helped improve my 35th figures as well.

Bruce, i just could not do a model without putting it on a base. Apart from anything else, it means i don't have to handle the model.

I'm a bit late putting up this thread this year, but i was determined to get my last build in before the end of the year, and just about managed it.

I've had a busy year this year with 20 completions, more then i have finished in a year for a very long time. I also got under way with a project thats been brewing for 20 years. So, here's what i have been up to...

Wow, Bish!  Quite a bit of output, and all great builds!  Congrats on tackling a bust, too!  I'd like to see more folks try their hands at figures.  Happy New Year to you, and may you be as productive in 2018!

Beautiful work! I still marvel at how creative your bases are for these dioramas. They just make the model that much better.

Thanks fermis. For me its not to much of an issue. I work on the bases when i put the kit ashide for drying. For an aircraft, the dio adds about a week to the build and for the non dio ones a day or two. The armour dio's however take some time longer. But for me its all worth it as its not the kit i am building but the whole scene.

I like em all...a LOT!!!

I especially like that all your stuff is "tied together" with the bases. Something I'd love to do, but don't want to sacrfice the time that I could be building a kit!

ridle, i was really pleased with how that dio turned out. Even though it not a Stuka, its my favorite scene out of those 4.

It's a great deal of awesome work Bish.  Modelers like you are truly impressive.  It's amazing that you're able to produce so much gorgeous work in a single year.  My personal favorite is that first Fw 190D-9.

Thanks Steve. I did the engine in one thread along with the 2 aircraft, so it was a bt easy for it to get lost in there. I'm still hoping they will do some more, a Stuka engine would be very welcome.

Great looking builds Bish!. I missed watching the BMW engine though. You just need to build the Packard Merlin now LOL.
