How do you put pictures on this site
Posted by Mark Carroll on Wednesday, May 2, 2018 11:40 AM

For all you modelers out there who have posted pictures on this site, we illiterates salute you!  Thankyou for telling us how to do it, however, we have no idea what in the heck your talking about! You  must realise that you are mostly dealing with people who are not totally computer savey. We would love to put our pictures on here. So those of you who use Postimage for instance, show everyone specifically how to do this, step by step, and if you use computer jargon say or show what that means. So those of you  who are about to post their pictures from your EXCELLENT instructions salute you!!!

Ok I'll try the best I can.

1. Go to postimage and click on the pic you want to share

2. The icon that looks like triangle with 3 dots. Click that

3. You should be on the menu that shows all different links. Click the clipboard to the right of the Direct Link.  Now your pic is saved to your clipboard.

4. Go to FSM to the thread you want to post to. Click on reply not Quick reply.

5. The icon that looks like a mountain and a moon. That's the insert pic. Click that.

6. Not sure if you're on a mobile or pc but where it says source.  mobile press and hold which will paste your pic link. Pc right click

If you've done everything you'll see your pic

Hope this helps

When I click on the hill, edit photo comes up. With 3 options.  Which door do I pick?

The one marked "source". Paste the URL of the photo there.

I use Imgur for hosting my photos.

Here is what I do to add pictures to my posts with Imgur:

1. I login to Imgur and find the picture I want to post:

2. On the Direct Link Option click "Copy".

3. Now go to FSM forum and find the Thread you want to add the picture too.

4. Find the post and click the "Reply" button. (If you do not see a reply button, you may need to refresh the browser screen. Or go to another post that does have a "Reply" Button.) You should see the next picture:

5. The add picture icon is circled in Red. Click on it, the next pic will show you what needs to be added:

6. Source circled in Red is where you will paste the copied information from Imgur, or any hosting site. Then I set dimensions to 500 X 350 and I leave Constrain proportion checked. These are arbitrary numbers, they can be set to whatever your prference may be. I do not add an Image Description, however you can if you like.

7. Click "OK" to add the picture. At this time you still have not posted the post, and you can go back and make adjustments. When done, click on "Submit your reply" at the bottom of the page.

8. Hope this helps.

I use Postimage, too.  When you'd like to share a photo you have stored there, and you have clicked the Share selection in Postimage, choose the "Hotlink for Forums" selection. Clicking the icon at the end of the row will copy the link text to your machine's clipboard.  Come back here and start a reply.  You can click Cntrl-V (speak "Control-Vee") to paste that link text into your reply.  Then comes a bit of a tricky part-Finescale's pages can't quite handle that full link, so we have to cut off the URL tag at the beginning and end of the line of text.  That's the text that appears in brackets at the beginning and end of the line, that looks like this:  "[url...]" and "[/url...]".  Here's an example:

If we don't cut those away, Finescale will boldface all of the text you write after the image.

Hope that helps!

Best regards,

Brad

Just a reminder that there is a whole forum dedicated to problems like this, in the Help and Feedback area below.

In fact, it is a good idea even for experienced users of these forums to occasionally scroll down through the whole list of forums.  You may be surprised by all that is here!
