Tamiya forum??
Posted by dogsbody on Tuesday, January 4, 2022 4:32 PM

A number of years ago, I joined a forum that was about Tamiya kits of all kinds.

Then about 5 years ago, My PC's hard-drive crashed. I took me a while to get it replaced and a bit longer for a friend to recover most of the material on the crashed unit.

One of the things lost was the link to the Tamiya forum. Last year ( 2021 ) I remembered the Tamiya forum, so I went looking for it. All I could find is Tamiyaclub. Unfortunately for me, it's only concerned with RC material. Nothing to do with injection-moulded kits.

Does anyone out there know of a Tamiya forum that deals with styrene kits?

I have not heard of that one, but lots of knowledge here, I'm sure most of us have enjoyed Tamiya kits.Feel free to ask or discuss.

I have been trying to get on the Tamiya forums for a while now. Have nothing but issues with it. I do the rc thing and have beem for a long time. I collect the rc vehicles and restore them. My wife thinks I am nuts for doing that but OH WELL.Anyway I did see some threads on model kits but not many. You might have better luck on this site.

I think they may have closed it down.  I used to go there and there were both plastic and r/c sections.  It was on the main Tamiya USA website.

Yeah, if it was part of Tamiya USA's website, looking at the site map, I don't see anything like a forum now:  https://www.tamiyausa.com/sitemap/

There is a Builder's Showcase, for people to submit pictures of their Tamiya builds, but that's the only thing I can see now, that is anything remotely like a forum (ie, it invites public participation).

lurch, what's the URL you have for the forum?

Barron I am not sure what you are asking. I am new to this computer stuff. I am still learning it. I will ask my wife and see what she says. I am old school so I just started using the cumputer about 6 months ago. Please have patients with me.Thank you.

Hi, lurch, no sweat!  Another way to put the question is, do you have the link that you used to get to that website.  If we look at the top of the page, we see a long string of letters and numbers, the address for that web page.  I wondered if you had that info, for the Tamiya forum.  I'm curious to try any link you have, if possible, and see what happens.

I test software for a living, so trying things out is a reflex for me.

In regards to Tamiya USA, web.archive.org is your friend. It takes snapshots of websites over time. A few minutes of searching there showed www.tamiyausa.com had a link to a forum called Tamiya Modelers that was an affiliate/partner. I will not give you the link to that forum website, however - the Tamiya Modelers forum closed down in 2017, and the domain was taken over by spammers and redirectors since. The forum is gone.

That sucks. I collect and race Tamiya rc cars and trucks. It used to be a great website for that. Are there any alternatives to get good rc info on Tamiya rc stuff? Any info will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks, Mike!  That corresponds to what I saw when I went to Tamiya's website the other day to have a look.  No trace of anything like a forum at all.  I was just curious to have a look, if there was still an address.

Both RCGroups and RCUniverse have extensive car forums.

RCU have a RC classics forum
