I was just discussing this with a member. When and if you purchase or are given one of these. Watch out!! They are NOT the usual scales for sure. The Planes are all over the place. Ships now, I think they START at about 1/800 and go down from there!
If you go to the Ship Forum and catch my discussion about the CoolPiece ship you'll see what I mean. The " Metal Earth" Tanker I am presently building is probably smaller than 1/1250. Why do I say that? The Offshore rig is only two inches tall at it's tallest and the ship is about 2-1/4" long.
I don't know how big the Titanic or Arizona are, but I believe they are about that. There's only so much you can get out of a 3"x3"Piece of metal. The "Nautilus"( The Harper Goff designed, Disney one) Is a lot smaller that I expected.The conning tower is a Quarter inch tall, onto which you add parts!
So be warned! Now all that said, They are fine practice for dealing with P.E. and keeping one's hands in the game. It is easy to get in over your head though. But, all in all a fascinating thing to build.
