To the FSM team that put together the April DLC

Thanks for the reply and I do understand todays publishing realities. My problems with FSM are two fold. I don't like or want digital. I'm 73 with aging eyes. I don't have a laptop and rarely look at digital content on my phone simply because it's too small. I use a desktop with a 24" monitor which can't sit on my lap while watching TV which is how I read magazines. My other problem is content. I just scanned the new digital version and out of the entire offering I found just one article of interest. I hardly ever build any armor, only a few non military planes and mostly prefer cars and ships. You seem to be increasing your focus on painting figures, scifi and extreme weathering, non of which is of the slightest interest to me.

Again, no grudges or hard feelings here. Everyone wants more of what they want, and that's completely understandable. To paraphrase our founding editor Bob Hayden, FSM is about techniques and techniques can be applied across many topics.

Thanks for being a subscriber and supporting FSM as long as you have. And thank you for continuing to be part of the hobby.

The April DLC officially is released tomorrow, but I put it up last week to make sure that everything was working--sort of a soft release. Subscribers will receive an email about it tomorrow, and those who get the FSM newsletter will see it in there, too.

I can't really offer more than what I have stated in other threads and on social media about what we're doing at FSM. For publishing, times have changed, are changing, and will continue to change for the foreseeable future. FSM has to change, too. Would I love to have 10 print issues a year? You bet. But, right now, it's not a viable option barring a dramatic drop in paper, printing, and production costs coupled with a surge in subscriber and single-copy circulation.

Editorially, our focus is to continue to work as hard as we can to supply quality stories in the print issues and DLCs, as well as videos and a wealth of scale modeling information widely available to a broad audience on the website. The one thing about periodicals that hasn't changed since the first "modern" magazine came off a press in 1663 is that, ultimately, each reader must decide for themselves whether the stories and information presented are worth their time and money. And there's no begrudging anyone that.

It was announced last year that the magazine would reduce the number of hardcopy issues and add several digital issues, available to subscribers here online.  There was a posting in the magazine, and emails sent to subscribers, too.  There are a couple of threads here discussing the change.

As far as this current DLC goes, I have the same thought as you; that is, I thought I got email notifications for the previous ones, as each one was made available online.  I may have, and deleted by mistake.  Or my email provider may have misidentified as spam and blocked it; it does that frequently.  Either way, now that I know it's available, I'll download it.

Once you've logged on to the website, click on EXTRA in the menu,  you will see the latest subscriber available updates, extra reviews, dlc, etc...

I hear you about print vs digital.  I switched a few of my magazines to digital, just to save on cost.  The ones from Europe are 50% cheaper digital vs print.  Never did that for FSM since they didnt offer a discount.  The April digital issue included a complete issue of Damaged magazine, so to me, that was really giving something extra to the digital version, and made up for 'losing' a few physical issues.

I work in the software field, and I'm afraid that's just the way things are moving now days, slowly but surely.  Have pros and cons. I like being able to read a physical magazine, but storage and finding old issues is soooo much easier with digital.  FSM are offering these as PDF files that you just download also, and is not dependent on signing onto a service - which is great.
