I think the zombie posts come from people doing Google searches.

Which is how I found this forum.

As did I.

Like Eaglecash, I also browse here by recent activity, and I am rarely aware of what 'forum' (or section, or whatever) I am in. Just my 2 cents.

Sometimes I don't know what day it is, either. Whistling

Nah,I think it's fine, it's simple enough if you stop and read it.

People just don't pay attention.

It's the only forum that tells you what it's not... not what it is

A casual user quickly browsing might just see questions about painting or airbrushes... and click.  I think it's poorly described.

Questions about painting or airbrushes? Please post in the Painting and airbrushing forum. For specific modeling subjects, review the list of Modeling Subjects forums.

Thanks,

John

Real G

I never read instructions anyway.

Until I run into a problem, that is.  Installing a ceiling fan last month was a comedy of errors.

When I moved into my house many years ago, every room that had a ceiling fan was wired oddly. You had to turn on the light switch for the fan to work. So, if you wanted the fan on at night, you had to leave the wall switch in the "on", and then use the pull chain to turn off the light.

I corrected this by wiring the fan so only the light switch controlled the light and you could use the pull chain to turn on and off the fan.

The living room had switches for both the light and the fan, but only used one for both. I changed that so one switch controlled the fan and the other the light.

I stopped worrying about people posting things in the wrong forums.  Same goes for "zombie posts"; some guys get....exercised, by them (pun intended), but I see those things as, "It is what it is."

My shortcut to the FSM forums always takes me to the "Recent Activity" page, and I just look for posts that I might have some input for.  I honestly don't even notice if it was posted in the "right" place or not.  I think the zombie posts come from people doing Google searches...that tends to dig up some really old posts, and its easy for someone to add a post without realizing how old the thread is.  Not a big deal there either.  I've noticed on some other forums (doesn't really happen here much) that the guys who get excited when somebody makes a zombie post also seem to be the same guys who get excited when somebody posts a question that was already answered years ago in an old thread.  Some people just aren't gonna be happy no matter what you do.  Like you said, "It is what it is" Cool

You know Don,the way the forum is going,I'm just happy to see participation, eventually they will learn.

I agree with Tojo as well. I am encouraged a little bit seeing new people posting. Of late, and of all the areas, the Auto section has been very active. That is good to see. For a long time it has been one of the slower areas.

Or they get disallusioned because the question they asked in one of the little used subforums that doesn't attract the traffic as the main forums doesn't get answered.

For instance, they ask what color to paint a certain jetfighter in the "painting and airbrushing" forum instead of the aircraft forum where someone who knows the answer has a better chance of seeing the question.

I wonder how many people read the instructions paragraph under the name of this forum?
