Retrieving kit instructions from Scalemates
Posted by MR TOM SCHRY on Wednesday, April 20, 2022 11:20 AM

Hi Everyone,

This is probably a "dumb" question but on the Scalemates site where do you go to get copies of instructions for kits?  Over the weekend I went to a flea market and got the Lindberg Shrimp boat kit for a great price.  The only problem is that some parts MAY be missing and the instructions are definitely missing.  Has anyone ever tried to get missing parts from Lindberg?  Thanks guys.

Usually, if you look up a kit in the Scalemates database, a link to the instructions will appear at the right, if the instructions are available.

Thanks Spaceranger!  I looked and the instructions must not be available anymore.  Thanks for your help.

I have good luck with Google Image searches. I didn't see any instructions "unfolded", but there are quite a number of open box and sprue shot images. That might help.

Thank you Bill!  I'll try that next.  I emailed Lindberg at Round2 and their representative told me that since that kit is out of production, they can't provide the instructions and if any parts are missing, they can't provide those either.  Lesson to be learned about buying opened kits at flea markets.

You know as long as there's a complete hull and a deck, the rest is whatever you want to do. A popular kit bash is the Jenny.

Tom!

Give me a couple of days I have that kit, I think, and if I do I will send you the instructions via Snail Mail. She's fairly simplified though to be accurate would take a lot more than those instructions.

Scalemates is a site for modelers by modelers. In other words, modelers like you and me submit scans of instructions, box art, etc. and upload them to the site for others to use.

If it's not there, it's because someone like you or me haven't uploaded them yet.
