You'd be surprised what sound can do.  At one time I was exposed to sound so intense you could not hearit but you could feel it as a physical force.  It's really a strange experience but it will mess you up.

Bill:

You know that, and I know that, But it was mentioned in the article and that's why I included it. I believe I have one in my "Tiny Stash"(" special oddities label").

The airplane in "Raiders" is nothing like the Horten, but it's pretty cool. There's a Lego toy of it on ebay you may find. It does a decent conversion.

In that light, try and see what you can find on 'shock cocoons'. I learned about then during my study of the demise of USS Arizona. unfortunately the data is hard to find and searches are often channelled to things other than what you're looking for.

But, if you can find it; it's fascinating stuff.

"Why do I do this? Because the money's good, the scenery changes and they let me use explosives, okay?"

Aha!

See there is the conundrum we have faced for years. There is a woman who was on my flight that crashed. She is alive, Just barely but they think she was injured in a periphial manner by the engine exploding by her. Well, within twenty feet. She had a Kidney and Liver transplant but lost a Lung and part of her Mental functions. The same thing is what befell her.

Because she was airborne at the time is actually what saved her. She has been like a teenager since that day, Her body was moving away, just not fast enough. I had been ejected from where I was just before that happened. I only lost some periphial feeling in my Body for maybe sixteen to twenty months. Shock waves are now being classified as just as dangerous to life anywhere as is the Explosive reasons they exist!

For the crew, because of the frequency in the pressure wave, It turned their lungs and brains to mush instantly on a microscopic level. So-They didn't know what hit them. As in, They Never Felt a Thing!!

That was a fairly common occurrence after the massed artillery battles of WW1 as well. Scores of dead troops without a mark on them...not near enough to be hit with shrapnel, but their insides turned to jelly by the concussive force of the blast wave. Horrific, but mercifully quick.

 Hi!

This is a little fact I learned yesterday while in a doctor's office. Out of date Mags in the Wait room, right? Well, a new bunch of old Smithsonian Magazine were there. Take one they are free! They gave me three! Well there were two that really had articles that fell into my spheres of interest. The H.L.Hunley Confederate Sub, and  The Horten Flying Wing.

Seems that they figured out in 2021 what killed the crew so fast in the Hunley that the remains were still calmly sitting at their station and not bunched around a hatch trying to get out. A form of Shockwave that penetrated the hull and bounced around inside until it dissipated. For the crew, because of the frequency in the pressure wave, It turned their lungs and brains to mush instantly on a microscopic level. So-They didn't know what hit them. As in, They Never Felt a Thing!!

The other article was short, sweet and to the Point. The Horten Brothers in Germany did perfect a flying wing and flew it. Some time later after improvements they built another. This one was Jet Powered. Most historians think the Metal framed Plywood sheathed plane NEVER flew! This was the consensus of both Military conservators and Museum staff. When they started restoration fo the new millenia,2021? They discovered something that added a little mystery to things. Burn Marks around the Jet Exhaust areas on the wings. So, Did it Fly? Records missing so we will never know, but it was the Scion of our stealth Bomber! One of the Horten brothers is oft quoted about putting charcoal on the outside surface of the plane to absorb or otherwise negate Radar picking it up!

The idea was so fascinating they added a Prop driven  version into some Scenes in one of the Indiana Jones Sagas. I believe it was the one about The ARK of the COVENANT! I am going to see if I can put one in the Budget soon. Hopefully in 1/48 scale!
