The closest shop to me is in St. Louis and that is three hours away. In a couple years I'm moving back to Michigan and the shop I grew up with, Riders Hobbies, will be close by! There are, all together, three shops in reasonable distance from each other. I can't wait Big Smile [:D]

You can visit my model shop at www.da-ta.com.pl - it's situated nearly in the center of the city, and for many modelers it's a palce of meetings and discussion. You can always get advices and good ideas there. And for frequent customers (like me) they have always small reduction of prices (to 10%). Aleksander

My model shop has been around for along time and I support them unconditionally. They are helpful in getting what they don't carry and expediant in finding it. They are old school to a point. All my needs are there. They will even open boxes before you purchase, so you can check it out before you buy it. I'll take them over online any day.

Boats 2, you are very lucky. I hope that shop is there for many more years to come. I guess I'm just real sad that my son will never be lucky enough to see "a real model shop" when he is older. Hopefully, things will change in the future when consumers decide that going to a shop(if they can find one) is better than filling baskets online.

Darren.

My "local" hobby shop is 70 miles away as I live in mid Michigan out in the woods. The magazine racks dont even have any mags except Model Railroader. I build small RC planes and plastic boats and enjoy FSM for all the tips and pictures of models I wish I could build as well. I can E-Mail my hobby shop with an order and they will ship UPS. When I visit they are very helpful and answer all my stupid questions so I guess I am very lucky compaired to some of you.
