“One of the best-engineered kits I’ve ever built,” is
Steve’s endorsement of Accurate Miniatures 1/48 scale Il-2 Sturmovik. He
applied Mike Grant decals to the instrument panel, and strung 6-pound fishing
line for an antenna. The plane is undercoated in summer colors with Testors
Model Master enamels, then overpainted with Model Master acrylic white; Steve
sanded high-traffic areas to reveal the undercoat. Finally, he applied ground
pastels and sealed the finish with Dullcote.
