1/48 Italeri HH-1N - Christmas gift
Posted by Pawel on Wednesday, December 24, 2014 5:10 PM

Hello!

Last year my bro got the Italeri kit No. 2692 - Bell AB 212 / UH-1N from me. First we agreed, that he's going to put it together and I would paint it. But he was taking his time and I ended up building it as well as painting it. We decided on the Marine Rescue scheme, as my bro is a Marines fan. The kit goes together OK, but it needs a lot of filling and sanding. I did some tweaking on it - couldn't keep myself from doing it... I cut out the hell hole, added the wire cutters and the searchlight - the SX-16 Nightsun is made out of turned aluminium. also added some tie down rings and antennae that are not in the kit - but I've seen them on the photos of the real thing. The white is Tamiya primer, red is Humbrol 19. Here are the photos:

I hope you liked it - my bro told me he did! Thanks for reading and have a nice day!

WOW Sir. That looks awesome. I actually work on that exact helpcopter and you did an amazing job. Any chance you would sell it or build another to sell? You can reach me at ajk2283@yahoo.com.

It would be the perfect gift for a Marine here who is retiring next year. Thanks for keeping the military spirit alive.

Awesome looking Huey!  I remember one in this scheme at Camp Pendleton from time to time and your rendition looks spot on.
