Academy 1/48 Longbow canopy "accident"

Here's what happens when one forces a plastic part (in this case, a clear canopy) to straighten out without enough heating.

It's that diagonal crack from the front right (at the wiper) towards the left upper canopy. Ugly as heck.

The picture didn't come out for some reason. I am guessing it's the front windscreen panel that cracked. Could you do surgery and remove it and replace it will some clear plastic sheet?

Mel's right, Albert....

...with the flat window panels, it seems a surgical replacement would be the way to go! Smile [:)]

Mel.... congratuations on your other STAR!

Take care,
Frank

It's the front as well as the top. The crack is very long. Anyway, I'll try to fix it... thanks!

Albert,

I fixed up an illustration of how I would go about replacing a flat window panel... with the thinner clear plastic (which could even be the clear top of a greeting card box), dipped in Future, should make a very realistic alternative.

Take care,

It's too bad there's not an "Undo" button for models like there is in word processors...that would be so nice...*sigh*

Frank,

Nice to see you are back "up" on the net. Good illustrations! I've been side tracked by work lately and not feeling well. Hip problems. I see the Doc on Monday.
