Finished my AH-1S Cobra 'IDF/AF Tzefa'
Posted by albymoore on Tuesday, August 3, 2004 10:45 AM
Hello Again,

Just put the finishing touches on a Monogram classic over the weekend. It is their 1/48th scale AH-1S Cobra built as an IDF/AF Northern Cobra Squadron 'Tzefa' (Viper). Shaped styrene and resin bits, parts from the spares bin, screen mesh, and brass rod were used for the conversion and to replace kit parts. The paint is a Humbrol mix, and the decals are from Isradecal.

For the whole kit-n-kabottle on the build-up, here's a link;

Now the pics;

Cheers,

If it wasn't for the background, you would be waiting for the crew to climb in and fire that mutha up!!!
Fantastic job, Albert!!!!

Thanks Randie and Jon,
In retrospect, I should've used white or light gray for the background, as the blue makes the hue of the brown look way darker than it is. I use the Mother Nature Lighting System and it still looks too dark (granted it was slightly overcast). I have an article in the works for ARC, so I may redo the pictures on a lighter background.

Thanks again for the kind words.

Cheers,

Very nicely done! Makes me want to get out one of my snakes and get to work!

Thanks Albert,

Here's a link to the construction site for that model, which turned out to be a mix between a Kit Bash and Scratch Build of a donated 1964 Aurora Chinook basket case.

Big Smile [:D] Cool! Thanks for posting my MH-47E on your site. I had taken those pics when I first got my digicam, suffice to say they aren't the greatest. If you want, I can send some better pics, or you can grab them from the MH-47 build-up thread I posted here in the Helicopter Forum. Thanks again. Cool [8D]

Thanks for the kind words Duke, I appreciate it. Sky's Decals released a 1/72nd set of updated markings for Israeli helicopters, the large snake motif is among the options (as is the option to build the IDF Apache in that killer yellow/brown/gray desert scheme).

See here for a scan of the sheet;
